About the Role
We are looking for a professional and dedicated Enrolled Nurse to provide quality nursing care to our residents within the requirements of the person-centred care model and applicable legislation. Working under the supervision of Registered Nurses, the successful candidate will play a key role in medication management, physical assessment, safety, and the overall well-being of residents in our care.
Key Responsibilities
Medication Management
- Receive, check, and administer medication in accordance with legal requirements, ensuring the correct resident, route, dosage, and timing always.
- Maintain and update the Medication Administration Sheet (MAS), blister packs, and Medication Control Sheets accurately.
- In conjunction with a Registered Nurse, record and countersign Schedules 6 and 7 drug registers weekly and update the physical drug count.
- Retain possession of all drug cupboard keys whilst on duty and ensure storage and disposal of all substances complies with statutory requirements.
- Ensure room and fridge temperatures for medication are checked and recorded twice daily.
Clinical Care
- Conduct physical assessments of new residents within one week of admission and re-assess residents as scheduled by the Care Manager.
- Evaluate frail care and home care residents daily for the first seven days of residence and update progress notes accordingly.
- Ensure that emergency equipment and supplies are checked weekly.
Safety & Environment
- Maintain a safe environment for all residents, reporting hazards, wearing correct protective clothing, and complying with restraint, sharps, and medical waste disposal policies.
- Immediately report any bruising, injuries, or suspected abuse of residents to the Care Manager.
Communication & Administration
- Attend Care Plan Meetings, shift handover meetings, and staff meetings, contributing actively to care decisions.
- Review and action incident reports daily; investigate any incidents impacting resident care and submit written reports to the Care Manager within 24 hours.
- Advise the Care Manager of identified needs, trends, or communicable disease concerns on an immediate basis.
- Maintain all consumable records, stock management, and ensure SANC registration is always current.
What We Are Looking For
- Enrolled Nurse qualification with current and valid SANC registration.
- Sound knowledge of medication management, legal scheduling requirements, and clinical nursing procedures.
- Excellent observational and assessment skills with a person-centred approach.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to complete accurate clinical documentation on IHFM.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and a proactive approach to quality of care.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team under the supervision of Registered Nurses.
Pay: R18 500,00 - R20 500,00 per month
Work Location: In person
