Global Forwarding Freight – South Africa has an opening for a Head of Road Freight where you will manage, control and develop the Road freight (RFR) business activities in the area in accordance with the group business strategy and local business environment to deliver maximum profit and optimize business assets and human resources. In this Head of Road Freight position

You will identify and develop potential, sustainable customer relationships.

You will respond to customer enquiries / complaints and lead in engagements and strategic customer interfaces with Key Account Contacts.

You will provide leadership in the areas of product and business development, resource utilization, Country organization and activities.

You will support and co-ordinate the development, implementation and localization of key initiatives and programs.

You will facilitate and support country’s efforts in maintaining healthy relationships with trade bodies and government agencies & authorities, including being an active subscriber or participant of global research agencies.

You will establish KPI’s and obtain agreement & commitment from Country management.

You will provide guidelines and support for the implementation of programs such as security regulation to meet country mandated regulatory requirements.

You will carry contact/negotiation (RFR) according to corporate policy and local requirements.

You will oversee the transport portal (Saloodo) and carry contract/relationship and performance management.

You will interact with commercial team (at country level) in terms of pricing.

You will define, implement, monitor, and enforce service and quality standards, in cooperation with product management (in Regional Office).

You will be responsible for EBIT result at country/country group level AFR.

You will define, monitor, and enforce targets to the operational units.

You will select and assigns key positions to reach targets.

You will analyze costs and cost structure of production on country/country group level and derives improvement measurements and actions.

You will be responsible for constant improvement and optimization of production means (cost management), e.g., make or buy.

You will define and implements ISO standards in line with corporate instructions.

You will be responsible for operational management, Production sites, Traffic management, technical support (buying, capacity etc.), Local purchasing on country/country group level for RFR according to corporate policy.

You will propose IT needs and be responsible for Preferred Carrier adherence as well as Operational KPI’s.

You will determine organization’s structure, roles and responsibility and performance targets for the function.

You will develop a culture of quality, service excellence (for internal customers), flexibility and cost consciousness.

You will develop a team spirit and multitasking capabilities within the team.

You will plan, organize, and direct an efficient and effective function.

You will develop KPI’s with team members and monitor individual performance.

You will conduct performance appraisal, including coaching.

You will manage the allocation of appropriate resources and commitment of staff to the achievement of Global, Regional and Country objectives and targets.

You will identify training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department.

Minimum 10 years’ experience in Logistics Industry

Must have worked at the position of a manager for at least 8 years in a reputed Organization
-
Degree in business Management or a related field
