Skills & Qualifications:
● Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of retail management experience, with a focus on liquor retail
(Liquor store) and secondary experience in grocery or FMCG environments. Familiarity with
liquor store regulations, compliance, and the grocery retail landscape is advantageous (negotiable).
● Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, train, and mentor teams with a primary focus on liquor
operations while supporting grocery operations as needed. Experience in motivating staff to meet
targets and ensure compliance with company standards and regulations.
● Liquor Retail Expertise: Strong understanding of the liquor industry, including stock management,
legal compliance (e.g., licensing, age restrictions), and health and safety standards specific to liquor
retail. Expertise in managing stock levels, promotions, and product sourcing for liquor.
● Assistant Manager Responsibilities (Store): In addition to managing TOPS, the candidate will support by overseeing staff, assisting with store operations, and
ensuring customer service excellence after TOPS closes. Familiarity with grocery retail processes is advantageous.
● Customer Service: Commitment to providing excellent customer service in both liquor and grocery environments. A focus on improving the customer experience through strong product knowledge and service delivery.
● Problem Solving & Product Knowledge: Ability to resolve issues quickly and effectively. Strong product knowledge in liquor retail, with the ability to manage pricing, promotions, and stock efficiently. Familiarity with grocery product management is beneficial for the Assistant Manager role.
● Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in retail management software such as Sigma and POS systems, with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office for reporting and administrative tasks.
● Communication & Financial Acumen: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for managing staff and interacting with customers and suppliers. Strong understanding of budgeting, cost control, and sales forecasting in both liquor and grocery environments.
