Woolworths, a leading South African brand committed to transformation and excellence, is seeking a talented Location Planner based in Cape Town, Western Cape. Join our dynamic Fashion, Beauty, and Home team to define and drive catalogue planning principles and processes across Clothing and General Merchandise (C&GM) to increase profitable sales growth and product availability. Through effective store clustering, cataloguing, and inventory management, you will ensure the right products are available in the right stores at the right time.
Working closely with Buying, Planning, Sales, and Marketing teams, you will use customer and store insights to optimise assortments and drive commercial performance. The ideal candidate will have strong retail planning experience, analytical skills, and a passion for delivering customer-focused solutions.
- Degree / Diploma with relevant experience
- Minimum 7 years Clothing retail / commercial experience
- Extensive Retail knowledge.
- Technically strong merchandising skills
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced preferred), with knowledge of planning systems (e.g., SAP, BI tools, QlikView).
- Strong numerical aptitude, ability to analyse data, and interpret trends.
- High accuracy and resilience
- Good communication, leadership, and collaboration skills for working with broader teams.
- Detailed understanding of the Customer.
Catalogue Management
- Influence cataloguing and inventory management. Identify catalogue opportunities to be implemented in stores based on performance analysis, minimum credible offer (MCO), departmental priorities and option control.
- Continuously monitor and review product performance, breadth of range (e.g. number of options) and adjust profiles, location and catalogue to maximise sales and profitability
Customer Profiles
- Develop detailed understanding of new and existing store profiles through Marketing / RED research data as well as store visits to determine optimal store catalogues.
- Manage and define key performance measures for clustering into store groupings (customer profile, turnover, merchandise hierarchy, timing and space).
- Understanding C&GM businesses and product strategies and translate into catalogue principles and processes based on sales and space.
Performance Review
- Conduct weekly/monthly analysis of sales and inventory data to identify risks and opportunities and drive trade actions.
Internal Stakeholders
- Ensure integration with the relevant stakeholders to enable the strategy and support trade.
- Communicate and integrate with Planning, Space, Sales Management, and Divisional Trade Managers ensuring that budgets, space and stock, are aligned to location potential, while supporting trading opportunities and development initiatives.
New Store Catalogue Planning Process
- Manage the end-to-end store catalogue planning process for new and modernised stores:
- Confirm customer profile, determine applicable store cluster and apply optimal catalogue contributions and integrate with stakeholders
- Develop new store catalogue and sales plans and opening stock budgets and communicate in line with critical path
- Integrate with planning systems and people to ensure alignment with broader KPI measures
- Develop and maintain new stores performance database
