Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Control and Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer to oversee engineering activities across various projects, ensuring alignment with company operational plans and successful project execution. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in C&I engineering, including a strong background in PLC systems, instrumentation, and people management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight: Lead and supervise Control and Instrumentation engineering activities to ensure projects are executed safely and in accordance with operational plans.
- Technical Documentation: Review and define engineering requirements through detailed analysis of technical documentation, including control system designs and instrumentation specifications.
- Subcontractor Control: Manage and review engineering documents from subcontractors, ensuring adherence to project specifications and quality standards.
- Technical Evaluations: Perform in-depth technical evaluations of control systems and instrumentation, including PLCs, SCADA systems, and HMI configurations.
- Cost Optimization: Implement strategies for optimizing instrumentation systems to minimize project costs, including evaluating cost-effective solutions and system performance improvements.
- Functional Analysis: Conduct functional analysis and prepare detailed specifications for instruments, control systems, and their installations.
- Documentation: Compile and review instrument data sheets, loop diagrams, and material take-offs, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Project Monitoring: Monitor and review project engineering development, focusing on cost estimation, control, and scope changes related to design modifications.
- Design Systems Feedback: Provide constructive feedback on the quality, usability, and value of design systems used in engineering processes.
- Factory Acceptance Tests: Attend factory acceptance tests (FAT) and contribute to vendor test documentation, ensuring compliance with technical requirements and project specifications.
- Site Inspections and Reporting: Produce comprehensive site inspection reports, functionality testing, and commissioning documentation for project validation.
- Installation and Commissioning: Assist in the installation and commissioning of plant Control & Instrumentation equipment, including PLCs and associated control systems.
- Maintenance: Oversee maintenance activities for machinery and control systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Project Close-Out: Prepare detailed project close-out reports, comparing design and procurement engineering man-hour budgets with actual man-hours, and identifying any discrepancies.
- Design Compliance: Liaise with management to ensure that designs meet agreed-upon requirements and standards.
- Mentoring and Training: Mentor and train junior engineers and subordinates, enhancing their skills in PLC programming, ladder logic, and instrumentation.
- Manpower Forecasting: Assist the discipline or project engineering manager in accurately forecasting manpower requirements for engineering tasks.
- Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a Control and Instrumentation Engineer.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in PLC programming, including ladder logic, function block diagrams, and structured text.
- Expertise in SCADA systems, HMI design, and configuration.
- In-depth knowledge of process control systems, including PID control, loop tuning, and control strategies.
- Experience with instrumentation calibration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of control system networking, protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP), and safety instrumented systems (SIS).
- Familiarity with data acquisition systems and real-time monitoring.
- People Management: Proven experience in mentoring, training, and managing engineering teams.
- Education: Relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
