General Manager – Foundry
Location: East Rand, Gauteng
Job Type: Full-time | Permanent (Salary will be based on experience)
About the Role
A well-established foundry based on the East Rand is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead all operational aspects of the business. The successful candidate will be a qualified Metallurgist with extensive practical foundry experience and a proven track record as an Operations Manager within a manufacturing environment.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Metallurgy or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 15 years' practical foundry experience.
- At least 5 years' experience in a senior Operations Manager or General Manager role within a manufacturing/foundry environment.
- Extensive knowledge of casting methods, melting, moulding, casting processes, and process optimisation.
- Proven experience implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Strong understanding of Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organisational, and people management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across all foundry activities.
- Coordinate and control all aspects of the business, including:
- Production and operations.
- Quality Assurance and ISO 9001 compliance.
- Health & Safety.
- Environmental management and compliance.
- Maintenance and engineering support.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Develop, implement, and monitor operational KPIs and performance objectives.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, statutory regulations, and company standards.
- Lead, mentor, and develop management, technical, and production teams.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
