As a Creditors Clerk, you will play a crucial role in the accounts payable function.
Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring the accurate processing of vendor and sundry invoices, resolving queries with suppliers and internal departments, and maintaining organized records.
Working closely with the Financial Manager and accountant, you will ensure timely payment allocations, reconciliations, and payment runs.
Your attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks will be essential in contributing to the smooth operation of the finance department.
Duties and responsibilities
1) Maintaining Accurate Records (Keeping meticulous records of all transactions related to accounts payable (invoices, statements, payment records and correspondence)
2) Invoice processing (Supplier Invoice) (Accurate capture of all supplier invoices)
3) Verifying invoices against purchase orders and payment requisitions
4) Payment Preparations – Ensuring payments are scheduled according to vendor terms
5) Reconciliation of Accounts (Regular reconciliation between creditor statements and company records)
6) Liaising with Suppliers and Internal Departments (Working closely with procurement to resolve invoice and PO discrepancies.)
7) Effective communication with suppliers (Ability to address and resolve supplier queries related to payments, invoices and contracts)
8) Financial Reporting and Analysis (Preparing of financial reports related to accounts payable such as the aging report, BBBEE reporting)
9) Ensuring Compliance (Understanding of VAT compliance on invoices, BBBEE requirements)
Desired Experience and Qualifications
Grade 12 with mathematics & accounting
Minimum 5 years’ experience as accounts payables/ creditors clerk
Solid grasp of accounting principles of double entry
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Intermediate)
Experience working with Sage Evolution
