ACCOUNTANT

Location: Between Worcester and Robertson, Western Cape

Eilandia Farms is a leading and diversified agricultural business with operations spanning wine grapes, table grapes, stone fruit, citrus, vegetables and cattle. The business is seeking to appoint an Accountant to join its Finance Department.

The job incumbent will report directly to the Financial Manager and will be responsible for a broad range of accounting and financial administration functions. The successful candidate will play an integral role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance, effective financial controls and efficient accounting processes, while supporting the Financial Manager with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting financial reports.
Maintain the general ledger, process journals and perform account reconciliations.
Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
Manage creditor and debtor reconciliations.
Prepare and submit VAT, EMP201 and other statutory returns.
Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements and year-end audit files.
Liaise with auditors, SARS, banks and other external stakeholders.
Prepare financial information required for financing applications and banking facilities.
Manage inter-company loan accounts and reconciliations.
Assist with cash flow management, budgeting and financial forecasting.
Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Provide general financial and accounting support to the Financial Manager as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Financial Accounting or Financial Management will be advantageous.
SAIPA Professional Accountant registration, or eligibility to register, will be advantageous.
A minimum of 3 years' relevant accounting experience, preferably within a commercial, manufacturing or agricultural environment.
Strong practical accounting knowledge, including general ledger, reconciliations, statutory submissions and month-end reporting.
Sound knowledge of VAT and other statutory compliance requirements.
Experience working with Sage Pastel or a similar accounting system.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong analytical, planning and organisational skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
High levels of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
Strong communication (English and Afrikaans; written and Verbal) and interpersonal skills.
The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.

PLEASE NOTE:

The successful candidate will be required to commute daily to the Le Chasseur area between Robertson and Worcester. Applicants should ensure that they have reliable own transport and are able to commute to the workplace on a daily basis.
