Bright Young Minds is looking for a dedicated, energetic and highly organised person to join our team in a dual role as an Administrator and Part-Time Tutor.

This position is ideal for someone who:

Loves working with children of varying ages
Has strong tutoring experience
Is professional, well-presented and friendly
Enjoys both administration and teaching
Can work independently while also being a strong team player

Non-Negotiable Requirements

Experience tutoring English (Grade 1–7, especially reading) and Afrikaans (Grade 1–12 FAL)
First language Afrikaans preferred
Non-smoker (strictly non-negotiable)

Working Hours

Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 17:00
Friday: 14:30 – 17:20
Saturday: 08:00 – 14:00

Daily Schedule

Monday – Thursday

08:00 – 13:30: Administration duties
13:30 – 14:30: Lunch
14:30 – 17:00: Administration duties

Friday

14:30 – 17:20: Tutoring (mainly Afrikaans Second Language up to Grade 12)

Saturday

08:00 – 09:20: English Readers class
09:30 – 10:50: English Readers class
11:00 – 12:20: English Readers class
13:00 – 14:00: Lesson preparation for the following week

Key Responsibilities

Administration

Answering telephone and WhatsApp enquiries professionally
Assisting parents and visitors at Reception
Providing feedback to parents
Assessing new students and discussing results with parents
Enrolling new students
Scheduling lessons and managing tutor diaries
Filing and organising student records
Capturing data and maintaining accurate records
Typing reports, letters and feedback documents
Managing emails and parent communication
General office administration and assisting management during busy periods

Tutoring

Remedial support in English (Grade 1–7, mainly reading)
Afrikaans (Grade 1–12 First Additional Language)
Explaining concepts clearly, building confidence, and maintaining a structured learning environment

Minimum Requirements

Minimum 2 years tutoring experience
Excellent academic ability – must have achieved at least 75% in English and Afrikaans in Matric
Copy of Matric certificate required
Fluent in English with excellent communication skills
Strong command of Afrikaans (first language preferred)
Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills
Highly organised with strong administrative ability
Very familiar with Microsoft Office
Typing speed of at least 45 words per minute
Able to work both independently and as part of a team
Friendly, positive and professional attitude
Clean-cut and well presented
Own reliable transport essential
Willing to go the extra mile during busy periods

Salary

R4,850 (basic – administration only) up to R12 000 per month (basic + tutoring), depending on the number of students enrolled in your tutoring classes.
Currently there are five tutoring classes available - although busy, not yet fully booked.
