Duties & Responsibilities

Prepare and cook meals according to call orders and menu specifications
Ensure food is prepared, presented, and served to the required quality standards
Maintain correct portion control and minimize food waste
Adhere strictly to food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations
Ensure cleanliness of the kitchen, equipment, and workstations at all times
Assist with stock control, storage, and rotation of food items
Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service delivery
Follow company policies, procedures, and standard operating practices
Step in to manage the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef or Sous Chef.

Cooking and food preparation skills
Menu interpretation and order execution
Basic stock handling and portion control
Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and professionalism
Delivers consistent quality and service excellence
Works respectfully and cooperatively with colleagues and clients
Takes pride in work and maintains high personal standards
Following instructions and procedures
Adhering to principles and values
Coping with pressure in a fast-paced environment
Delivering results and meeting customer expectations
Knowledge of HACCP and food safety practices
Strong knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety
Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Attention to detail and commitment to quality Culinary training is an advantage (but not always required)

Qualifications

National Senior Certificate
Hospitality or Culinary Arts Qualification
2 - 3 years of experince
Proven experience as a Cook or Call Order Cook in a catering or hospitality environment
Knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, and kitchen equipment
Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
