Front of House & Function Manager with firsthand startup experience to help build our brand from the ground up. [1]The RoleThis is a high-impact, dual-focus role for a builder, not just a manager. You will hit the ground running to launch and oversee daily à la carte restaurant operations while simultaneously setting up and executing our functions department. You will play a vital role in creating workflows, training the initial team, and establishing our reputation in the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Startup & Launch Operations: Help establish operational standard operating procedures (SOPs), floor layouts, templates, and service standards from day one.
- Floor Management: Lead daily restaurant service, manage floor seating, and handle guest relations to build a loyal local clientele.
- Event Coordination: Build the functions pipeline, manage initial inquiries, conduct venue viewings, plan run sheets, and oversee event setups.
- Client Relations: Communicate fluently and professionally with clients and suppliers in both English and Afrikaans.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, onboard, and motivate the foundational team of floor staff and casual event crews.
- Admin & Finance: Implement cash-up structures, billing systems, deposits, stock control processes, and monitor shift labor costs.
What We Are Looking For
- Startup Experience: Proven experience launching a new venue, restaurant, or hotel, or working through the opening/establishment phase is essential.
- Availability: Must be fully available to work every weekend (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays) as these are our busiest dining and event days.
- Language: Native or professional fluency in both English and Afrikaans (written and spoken) is non-negotiable.
- Experience: Minimum of 3+ years in restaurant management, with proven experience running banquets, weddings, or large functions.
- Attributes: Resilient, adaptable, highly organized, and capable of solving complex problems under pressure without established systems.
- Tech: Proficient with modern hospitality POS systems and reservation software setup. [1, 2]
Pay: R8 720,24 - R15 000,00 per month
