Assistant Systems Administrator – Retail Head Office

Location: Parow, Cape Town
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports to: Systems Administrator

We are seeking a detail-driven and analytical Assistant Systems Administrator to support and maintain the integrity of our retail database systems. This role is critical in ensuring accurate, reliable, and continuously updated data across the business and acts as a key gatekeeper of system information.

The successful candidate must be a strong team player who collaborates well while also being able to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Maintenance & Integrity

Assist with all database-related functions, ensuring accuracy and consistency at all times.
Import, update, and maintain data within company regulations.
Act as a gatekeeper of database integrity, ensuring only accurate and approved data is captured.
Ensure continuous updating of databases to reflect current prices, products, and supplier information.
Assist with basic database checks and standard reports.
Data cross referencing.
Analysing data to ensure accuracy.
Follow all data security and confidentiality instructions strictly.
Escalate any system issues, data errors, or discrepancies to the Systems Administrator promptly.

Specific System Tasks: (Including, but not limited to the following:)

Capture and manage price changes, including promotional and seasonal pricing.
Create and maintain new product items on the system.
Maintain and update supplier databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Manage and maintain product categories and classifications.
Assist in keeping databases organised, stable, and running efficiently.

Collaboration & Support:

Work collaboratively with other departments, contributing positively as a team player.
Support the Systems Administrator with ongoing system administration and maintenance.
Assist in resolving data discrepancies in line with procedures.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

Tertiary qualification in Systems, IT, Computer Studies, Business, or similar is beneficial.
Relevant studies or training in data capturing, data accuracy, or system administration will be advantageous
Studies involving structured data management, reporting, or system controls

Experience & Skills:

Experience in data capturing, database administration, or system support.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and XLOOKUP (essential).
SAP Business One experience will be a strong advantage.
Strong numerical and analytical ability.
High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
