As a Draughting Technician, you will support the Engineering team by producing accurate, high-quality PV layouts, renders, and engineering drawing packs. You will play a key role in ensuring consistency in draughting standards across the business while contributing to projects ranging from 20kWp to 20MWp.
The Draughting Technician will be responsible for maintaining precision, meeting deadlines, and ensuring all drawing documentation supports successful project execution.
Position of the job in the organisation:
The Draughting Technician will report directly to the Draughting Manager
Principal responsibilities:
- Produce accurate and timely 2D and 3D draughts for Engineering projects
- Create and maintain complete engineering drawing packs
- Ensure draughting standards are consistently applied across the group
- Develop and document draughting processes and best practices
- Maintain structured and compliant file naming and storage practices
- Create virtual representations of:
- Solar carports
- Ground mount systems
- Rooftop configurations
- Produce detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings with clear dimensions
- Incorporate manufacturing standards into all drawings
- Perform parametric and freeform modelling
- Support digital prototyping and simulation where required
- Update drawings when design changes occur during installation or operations
- Collaborate with Engineering and stakeholders to ensure design accuracy
- Contribute to ongoing improvement of system design tools and practices
- Any other job duties associated with this role.
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years’ proven draughting experience
- Valid driver’s licence (essential)
- Proficiency in:
- AutoCAD (Essential)
- Sketch-up
- MS Office Suite
- Strong ability to issue revisions and drawings within deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable
- Experience within the solar or electrical industry
- CAD Automation
- Autodesk Inventor
- AutoCAD 3D
- ERP / MS Dynamics experience: Advantageous

By Month 3

- I will be familiar with draughting standards, processes, and file management practices
