Full Job Description

Job Purpose

A skilled Spray Painter responsible for preparing surfaces, mixing paints, and applying coatings using spray equipment to deliver high‑quality finishes. Ensures all work meets company standards, safety requirements, and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming.
Mix coatings according to required ratios and specifications.
Operate spray‑painting equipment.
Apply coats evenly to achieve professional, defect‑free finishes.
Inspect painted items for quality and make necessary touch‑ups.
Follow safety procedures, including proper ventilation and PPE usage.
Maintain spray equipment, tools, and painting area to ensure optimal functionality.
Record paint usage, batches, and completed work.
Meet production timelines and quality standards.

Required Skills & Competencies

Knowledge of different coating techniques.
Ability to mix accurately.
Strong attention to detail with high-quality finishing skills.
Ability to identify and correct surface imperfections.
Familiarity with spray-painting tools.
Understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
Time management and ability to work under deadlines.
Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
2+ years’ experience in industrial or automotive spray painting.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for long periods.
Manual dexterity and good hand‑eye coordination.
Capacity to lift and move medium-weight materials or equipment.

Personal Attributes

Reliable and punctual.
Quality‑driven with pride in workmanship.
Team player with good communication skills.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques.
