Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter & Turner to join our team. The Fitter & Turner will play an important role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing equipment, including extruders, printers, bag-making machines, and associated machinery. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical issues, troubleshoot equipment failures, and implement timely repairs.
- Perform scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance tasks to identify and address potential issues before they escalate.
- Fabricate, fit and assemble components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify opportunities for equipment optimization, efficiency improvements, and safety enhancements.
- Participate in relevant committees e.g. health & safety, food safety etc.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspection reports, and parts inventory.
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Qualified as an Artisan (Fitter & Turner).
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems and machinery.
- Ability to interact in an effective manner with all levels of the organisation.
- More than 10 years’ experience in the manufacturing industry.
- Previous exposure to the plastics industry is highly desirable and advantageous.
Ability to reliably commute to George, Western Cape, or
Willingness to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
