ELECTRICIAN DUTIES
· Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
· Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
· Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
· Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
· Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
· Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
· Maintain current electrician's wireman license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.
· Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
· Carrying out safety inspections and fulfilling the health, safety and welfare responsibilities as detailed in the Company’s Policy and in compliance with OHS ACT and ISO 45001 OHS management system.
· Maintain quality and environmental control procedures in accordance with ISO 9001 Quality and ISO 14001 Environmental Management.
GENERAL WORK DUTIES
· Transport tools, materials, equipment, and supplies to work site by hand, handtruck, or heavy, motorized truck.
· Clean work area and wash parts.
· Maintain tools, material, equipment and supplies to work site by hand, handtruck, or heavy, motorized truck.
· Requisition material, using warehouse requisition or release forms.
· Bolt components together to form tower assemblies, using hand tool.
· Raise. Lower, or position equipment, tools and material using hoist, hand line, block and tackle.
· Laying cables and/ or guiding the positioning of poles and associated structures and, laying and compacting cement mixes and soil to reinforce structures using hand held tools (e.g. handstamper, spade etc)
· Providing support to colleagues during the marking off work area/ site holding measuring tapes and inserting level indicators.
· Receiving instructions/ guidance from the immediate superior and attends to the preparation of work site. (E.g. placing road signage, loading/ off-loading equipment, tools, etc.) and/ or fastening slings/ropes and guiding/ holding material/ equipment during the loading/ off-loading sequence.
SHEQ ADHERENCE
· Must comply with the SHEQ policies and procedures
· Adheres to quality management system policies, procedures and related requirements of ISO 9001.
· Directs efforts to maintain ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 accreditation.
· Protective clothing requirement to be adhered to all the time.
Minimum Qualification Required
Minimum Experience required
· Grade 12
· Completed Trade Test – Millwright/Electrical
· In-depth knowledge of equipment and machinery
· Experience using PLC's (beneficial)
· Working with hand tools
· Computer literate: MS Excel & MS Word
· 2 years as a general assistant in an electrical environment
· Knowledge working with electrical and pneumatic tools
