Job Summary
The AI Software Developer Learnership provides participants with the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification while building practical experience in AI solution development. Learners will be exposed to real-world projects and supervised workplace learning, enabling them to apply AI and software development principles in a professional services environment.
Learners participating in the programme will be required to:
- Participate fully in all training sessions, workplace learning activities, and assessments;
- Develop and implement basic AI and machine learning models under guidance;
- Assist in training AI models and testing performance to ensure accuracy within defined frameworks;
- Support the deployment and maintenance of AI solutions, including monitoring model performance;
- Interpret solution design documentation and contribute to the development of AI-based solutions;
- Apply foundational programming skills (e.g. Python) to solve structured technical problems;
- Work with datasets to support model training, testing, and validation activities;
- Follow coding standards, documentation practices, and version-control processes;
- Adhere to organisational policies, procedures, and information security standards;
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a willingness to learn;
- Collaborate effectively with team members and technical mentors;
- Complete all assigned tasks, projects, and assessments within required timeframes;
- Apply responsible and ethical AI principles, including data privacy, bias awareness, and fair use of models;
- Comply with data protection and confidentiality requirements when working with client or firm data
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Completed Matric (Grade 12);
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, or a related field (preferred);
- Currently unemployed;
- Foundational knowledge of programming concepts (Python preferred);
- Basic understanding of mathematics and statistics relevant to AI and data analysis;
- Interest in artificial intelligence, software development, and technology-driven problem solving;
- Ability to commit to the full duration of the learnership programme;
- Willingness to learn, follow technical guidance, and participate in both training and workplace activities.
