The Associate Consultant owns the end-to-end delivery of a defined workstream within a consulting engagement, applying strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills to complex sustainable finance and impact investment challenges. This role is a core contributor to the success of a project, responsible for managing timelines, ensuring quality, and synthesising information into structured deliverables with minimal oversight.
The Associate will take on more visible client engagement responsibilities, leading interviews, presenting findings, and building credibility with client counterparts. They also play a vital role in supporting junior team members by offering day-to-day guidance, feedback, and mentorship on technical tasks, modelling, and consulting practices.

MAIN OUTCOMES:
You will be measured on the things that make an engagement succeed:
- Own workstream, end-to-end. From defining the problem to delivering the final output, you run a full slice of the engagement with minimal oversight.
- Clear, client-ready outputs. You'll turn research and analysis into structured, client-ready reports, models and presentations, supporting financing and investment decisions by international leaders in sustainable financing and impact investment.
- Confident client engagement. You'll lead interviews, present findings and build your reputation as a trusted mid-level advisor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Delivery
- Own the delivery of a defined workstream, undertaking rigorous qualitative and quantitative research, analysis and problem solving.
- Develop research, analyses, and evidence-based recommendations to support financial decisions.
- Produce high-quality client deliverables, including reports, presentations and supporting documentation.
- Lead interviews, workshops and selected client interactions to gather insights and present findings.
Collaboration
- Work closely with colleagues across disciplines to solve complex climate, sustainable finance and impact-related challenges, contributing to high-quality project outcomes.
Business Development
- Support proposal development through research, analysis and solution design, and contribute to the development of CSS methodologies, knowledge products and thought leadership.
People Development
- Coach and mentor Analysts by providing day-to-day guidance on consulting craft, analytical approaches and deliverable quality.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- A postgraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Development Finance, Environmental Studies, or Climate Change with a strong academic record.
- 2–4 years of experience within a consulting, advisory, corporate finance, development finance or banking environment, with demonstrated exposure to sustainable finance, climate finance, ESG, impact investing or related fields.
- Advanced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills, with intermediate modelling skills.
- Proven track record of managing deliverables independently and reliably, presenting work of a high standard.
- A demonstrated interest in sustainable development through professional experience, postgraduate research or relevant extracurricular activities.
