A TYPICAL DAY AT WORK WOULD START WITH BEING ON TIME FOR PARADE AT 07:30 IN THE MORNING. LATELY WE BOOK ON DUTY WITH A PRINT IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM. AFTER PARADE A INVESTIGATOR MIGHT HAVE TO BE AT COURT IN THE MORINING TO TESTIFY FOR A BAIL APPLICATION OR DURING TRAIL PROCEDINGS. THE INVESTIGATOR WOULD PROCEDE TO COURT AND GO AND SPEAK TO THE PP(PUBLIC PROCECUTOR) TO FIND OUT IF HE/SHE IS NEEDED FOR THE COURT PROCEDINGS. IF THE INVESTIGATOR IS NEEDED THEY WOULD SPEND THE DAY AT COURT. OTHERWISE THEY WOULD GO BACK TO THE POLICE STATION AND PROCEDE WITH INVESTIGATIONS. SOME OF THE COURT DUTIES MAY INCLUDE TAKING THE ALL COURT DOCKET FOR THE FOLLOWING DAYS TO COURT AND SIGNING FOR J15 WARRANTS.
THE INVESTIGATOR WILL THEN CONTINUE WITH OTHER INVESTIGATIVE WORK. THEY WOULD GO AND OBTAIN WITTNESS STATEMENTS TO COMPLETE THE CHAIN OF EVIDENCE IN THEIR CASES AND INTERVIEW NEW COMPLAINANTS ON THER CASES. OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE ARRESTING A SUSPECT WHEN ALL THE NECESSARY EVIDENCE HAS BEEN GATHERD.. WHEN THIS HAS BEEN COMPLETED THE INVESTIGATOR WILL OBTAIN OTHER DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE NEEDED LIKE SEC205 AND VERIFICATIONS OF ID DOCUMENTS ETC. CAN ALSO BE PART OF THEIR DAILY DUTIES. THIS CAN TAKE UP ALLOT OF TIME BECAUSE THE INVESTIGATOR HAS TO GO AND SEE THE STATE PROSECUTOR PERSONALLY AND THEN A MAGISTRATE TO GRANT A SEC 205. THE INVESTIGATOR MIGHT HAVE TO GO TO PRETORIA TO OBTAIN INFORMATION CONFIRMING A SUSPECTS IDENTITY RESIDENCTY ETC. THIS IS ALL VERY TIME CONSUMING BECAUSE OF

I am an excellent worker and fast learner with 2 years of experience in the Public Service environment to offer. I enclose my resume as a first step in exploring the possibilities of utilisation with your organisation. As a potential employee within the SAPS, I would strive to bring a focus on quality and ease of use to your working procedures. Furthermore, I work well with others and I am experienced in clerical, secretarial and administrative duties.
I am currently appointed as the Personal Assistant to Lt Gen Makgale, Director of Corporate Communications in the SAPS. The position I occupied prior to my placement was as the Senior Secretary to Former Head of Communications, Major General Mbatha. I also worked as an administration clerk at the Security Advisory Services of the SAPS, and prior to that I was the Acting Secretary to Major General Kulu at Protection and Security Service, HQ.
I have also acted as a Secretary to Major General M Masemola on a few occasions, currently in the post of former Major General Kulu, occupying the post of Protection and Security Service, HQ. I have also acted for Brigadier SJ Zeelie, Section Head of Security Advisory Service in the South African Police Service.
I have completed a range of administrative and secretarial courses/ duties during the last two years. I have a basic knowledge of the business management environment, and as such, will be able to add value to any working environment. I have good administrative and logisti
My typical day a work starts with a morning parade, briefing the supervisor on progress made on the vetting investigation file allocated to me as a vetting investigator then proceed with the business of the day. i.e. further investigation and typing of investigation reports and deductionsor.
I have learned a lot about the Minimum Information Security Standards document and high level of confidentiality with regard to the vetting files i have been working on. A vetting investigator needs to have a high level of secrecy because if information on vetting files is compromised, it can harm the subject or the organisation as a whole.
Management in the orgnaisation is vibrant given the culture of the SAPS, one needs to follow protocol whenever there are issues to be addressed. Respect for authority is sensitised to all members in the organisation.
I had the opportunity of working with people who have good interpersonal skills and communication skills because given the few resources that we, as vetting investigators need to utilize, we need to communicate amongst ourselves in order to share the resources allocated to us e.g. vehicles, in order for us to reach our targerts.
My job have some challenges every now and then. Sometimes subjects provide incorrect contact numbers on the Z204 (Security Clearance Application Form) and in such a case one has to use his investigative skills to establish the correct contact details of the subject. A very exciting and challenging working environment that calls for lots of spontaneous and creative thinking
- A very unpredictable environment where no two days are the same; managing junior and middle managers as well as assessing station performance daily; task allocation to staff; emergency management;
- I learnt to manage people from different diversities, races and backgrounds;
- Management skill to achieve optimal results; dealing effectively with crisis management; evaluate work performance; monitoring outputs;
- Respect people's different opinion; know your co-workers in terms of their culture and ethnicity; team player;
- Dealing with the killing of a member that was part of my Cluster was the hardest part of my job, even if I didn't know the employee personally as he/she was part of the bigger team; arresting a police officer if involved in corruption as it was an embarrassment to the organisation; managing 10 stations with 862 personnel was a mammoth task; keeping a watchful eye on all environments (HR, finance, supply chain, uniform, Detectives, support services)
- Getting the satisfaction when members of the public walk up to you and say that I have did an excellent job since been appointed as the Cluster Commander of the area; acknowledged by core management for excelling in my overall performance; running projects and seeing the positive outcomes knowing that this is the culmination of hard work; awarded the best senior manager in the country when I was given the award "National Senior Manager of the Year - Operations (2014)" by the National Commissio

ConsNegative image that some managers from other working environment bring to the organisation, somewhat a very disheartening.
A typical day at work starts by receiving instructions as far as the tasks of that day are. If there are no specific instructions, then general patrol duties take place, information-handling, Investigation, Projects Coordinating, Suspects-tracing, Intelligence Gathering.
I have acquired a lot of experience through this company. I even discovered other talents I did not know about. Most importantly, I learned how to deal with different situations as they come. To think on my feet. To work with different people from different cultures, background, ethnic group, behaviour, life-style, education. I did also learn to handle information and to use it effectively and efficiently as per different matters.
Management is there to stir the ship in the right direction. So, they did a good job depending on the responsibilities required at the time of need.
A co-worker is very important in one`s working life. There should be a good relationship between you and your co-workers. There should be trust and understanding, especially due to our line of work. Yes, that is important and that was exactly how my co-workers were.
The hardest part of the job is having to be faced by a life-changing situation whereby my solution will determine the future of the person/people involved. Most of the times that being a personal/family issue.

* The day is self drivern, one needs to have his day planned, there is targets like everywhere and one needs to account for time spent as opposed to production. The day is full of investigaions, taking of statements, interviewing of witness and accused persons, tracing of suspects or busy with Forensic investigation querries from the office.
* A lot that can never be expained in full. Good investigations of Syndicate related Crimes, Undercover operations and normal Policing, Monitoring and Intercepting techiniques, Forensic and Financial Investigations, proceedures aligned to these, the interaction with SABRIC, many Banks, FICA. I pride myself with the information I learnt from this institution though in terms of financial reward and good management is not the best, but in other arrears it is.
* Management has a room for improvement, not all the Managers understand their role as managers and understand the line functioning of the Serives. Some are properly placed whilst other has been placed according to what I do not know.

The SAPS is one of the biggest Government organisations in SA and u grow through the ranks leaning the culture and sharing the camaraderie which exists in environments such as that of the SAPS. Police officers work as a close knit unit, living together and dying together. At the moment I have traveled my journey in the SAPS and finds myself at Security Advisory Service within the division Protection and Security Services. The SAPS is one of the pillars of democracy in SA and the work comes with a lot of pressure and demands a lot of self control, diplomacy and the ability to withstand the pressure associated with workshop politics, handling labor unions, conducting investigations and initiating corrective measures where necessary, to this end a steady hand and a clear head is needed in order to deal with conflict correctly. Motivating members is another challenging aspect of the environment, given conditions under which members operate and this management function is cardinal in this work space. Communication is another aspect in the SAPS which is the propelling force in the organisation, it must continuously take place among managers, with employees at large, with the political establishment and with the community at large, an error in communication has a tendency to ripple and have effect in multiple environments and partners. in general the SAPS is good employer.

A very accomodative environment with warm welcoming co-workers
A typical day at work including doing a messenger task, helping my boss to organize his schedule and welcoming guests and sometimes it goes in an extent that i have to clean the office making coffee and some positive atmosphere on the workplace together with helping with anything that is needed from the boss.
I've learned to be punctual, to always seek advide before doing something i dont understand. To work under pressure and in a team as well as independently. to keep my files up to date and keep records. how to conduct consultation and how to require files
I have learned to manage my time and routine well, to adjust my working schedule and make sure that i perform all my duties in time before deadline
my co-workers are very supportive and have been helping me a ot to adjust and advance smoothly with no feeling pressures, good relationship with co-workers is the key to a productive institution.
The hardest part of the job is when you are supposeed to get some people to attest or sign certain documents and they are nowhere to be found or too far and worst part on leave. even when you are tring to get hold of the attorneys and find out that they are too busy and when you are requesting fils or information and the sources delaying.
i enjoy getting busy, instances were the matters get settled on our favour knowing that i have played a role, that makes me enjoy coming to work and when the parties co-operate either settling in arbitrations, requesting files etc
ProsChallenging work in a good environment where teamwork is the key to success. Very good benefits
Happy employees are productive employees. Having fun in the workplace increases workplace productivity.
* A TYPICAL DAY AT WORK: A day at work is very interesting and looking forward to help the helpless people who are always looking at me for help on daily basis.
* WHAT YOU LEARNED: Work independently without supervision, able to demonstrate interpersonal skills and demonstrating my flexibility.
* MANAGEMENT: Is very humane, able to share knowledge with juniors, they were able to coach you and are able to command us effectively. Only that the instruction always come from top only.
*CO-WORKERS: Very hardworking people who mostly share each others work for knowledge purposes. Co-workers who are willingness to go an extra mile so that the work can be completed on time, as a result, our ability to work well together significantly increased.
* THE HARDEST PART OF THE JOB:The hardest part is dealing with the public at times. The other one is to go to work smiling and at a later stage you are no longer alive due to criminals. The last part is to differ from another police official but we are trained to do the same thing.
*MOST ENJOYABLE PART OF THE JOB: Is to serve my own people of different colours and enjoy talking, getting information and doing community policing with them shows that the public are willing to help the police. Lastly, the extra ordinary training that we are getting that changes your personality to be what the police organisation wants you to be - disciplined.

my day to day activities amongst others include going out collecting evidence in a form of meeting prospective witnesses, interviewing them and obtaining their statements for court purpose. Visiting informers and gathering of relevant information. Making follow-ups to the collected information, meeting with the prosecutors and testifying before the court.
I have developed good communication skills, good interviewing skills and improved my investigation skills.
The detective management is a good management, it is a norm and practice at every working environment that when subordinates are not performing according to the expectations of the management concerns will always be raised by the managers as a sign of showing concern that we need to be more productive which I don't find it different to other management of other components within the police station.
Not all employees are difficult to work with, some are hard and some are good but the very most important common goals that keeps me going are the department objectives and not to forget what I came to work for.
The hardest time is when you work with witnesses who do not want to give statements, witnesses who are keys to the case but not willing to assist in resolving the case by giving statements. Sometimes witnesses do give statements but not willing to give testimony in court in fear of the lives and also cases where witnesses after my hard work on arresting the perpetrator witnesses want to settle out of co

Hard working, motivated
I am writing to outline the wealth of skills, knowledge and expertise I have gained as a Senior Law Enforcer. I believe I possess the required capabilities and vital expertise necessary to make a very significant and beneficial contribution to your organisation.
I am an accomplished, extremely hard working and highly self motivated individual. As you will note from my enclosed CV, I have been working for the South African Police Services (SAPS) since 1994, for the last 10 years as a Law Enforcement/Warrant Officer. Within this role, I have been accountable for the effective management of the Detective Service Unit, aligning the same with the strategic direction of the station.
In addition to this, I coordinate special projects and operations, visit crime scenes, gathering evidence and tracing suspects as well as apprehend and arrest wanted suspects and interview the same. I develop monthly and yearly operational plans, draw up daily reports on work and ensure that all work is in line with governing guidelines and procedures.
As an effective leader, I motivate and empower individuals to achieve their own potential and to make a significant contribution to the success and productiveness of the team. I also recruit and maintain informers and attend court on a regular basis to give evidence and for bail application hearings. Maintaining a positive, visible presence within the community is extremely important, and I play a key role in providing valuable advice and g
