Structured and fun to execute duties daily
Inspite of specific upper management, it's a great place to work if you keep in striving to adhere to what they call a HI 5 and, if employed externally, to teach yourself daily, remain assertive during training and ask as many questions. To survive, act uneducated. Otherwise, have fun if you're passionate about retail, do the right thing at all times, be past of the team but don't build friendships as it a work place and don't trust the culture too much. But, practice that culture as an individual as you'll be a manager that is powerful, enviable, feared, intimidating, professional, productive and brings empowerment to the staff. Be a teacher and you too will keep learning. Stay honest and work hard. Beautiful dynamos and People Support.
ProsAbility to train yourself, grow by yourself as you will not be trained if you are from outside stores, may suffer depending on the trainer. This builts assertion, wisdom and intellect. Embrace it.
ConsNo one listens to you, assumptions will make you loose your job, if you tell the truth you're dismissed, not sure if one has to lie since "honesty" is apparently one of the the values, you cannot trust anyone at all, management is not well exposed to changing world dynamics.

collaborative and fun work place
Morning we would arrive and pray then be briefed about yesterday day production how we have as compared to how much was the target and be applauded for the good work if there is any and be be advised where needed. Stationing according to different departments in isles so that we are able to pack stock but also be able to service customers. We had a culture where we assistant each other when we had pack stock and one has a lot of work in his/her department sharing our lunch celebrating each others achievements and encouraging each other. The hardest part of the job was we are to busy and we keep receiving stock about 300 cardboards in the morning and the afternoon they have to be double unpacked from the store and the floor it was very tiring. Most enjoyable moment when our manager and senior and permanent staff applauded us for our great work treated us as if we are also their part of permanent staff advising us teaching work they treated us as casuals nor threatened by our presence, never tried to be those hard people in a work pace trying to be strict parents, they would just advise us as colleague's but bring parent views into it.

Fun
Well being at work is fun as I've never worked before,I get to meet alot of new faces everyday.I have learned that in life you need to have an open mind in order to understand other people's cultures and values. The management is fine from top to bottom. The staff consist of less than 10people which is very good because we get time to communicate and understand each other in many ways than one,we have created a sisterly bond which no one could be able to break, we go through hardships together even if sometimes we don't make the budget we all know that there's always a tomorrow. As I have mentioned before that I meet different faces everyday, Some people are mannered than others, so we sometimes get customers that complain about everything and that I think is the hardest part of the job but I know how to stay calm through it all. The enjoyable part is when the manager is out,we run around, make jokes and dance to music but we don't distract the clients because we know that the customers needs come first.
Proswe get a free lunch only if we've made a budget for the month

The company culture
I have been working in the retail industry since 2004. During this time I have learnt how to promote sales, reduce losses, manage stock, manage people and control expenses in order to meet business targets. I know how to maintain store image, presentation and the promotion of stock. I know how to manage stock and correcting the prices of products. I know how to drive a low cost business according to company standards. Administrative duties are one of the main functions within a company and I can do all tasks relating to this function according to company standards and guidelines and software related packages. Stock and cash handling procedures I know by heart with regards to security and safety measures thereof. As a trainee store manager I’ve learnt how to train, coach and perform management duties of a team while maintaining the company culture. I can multi- task and I am a team player. I have completed a certificate in Armed Robbery Survival Skills and I am well equipped to work on all MS Office packages.

alright place to work to but not for someone who wants to grow a career.
The work is very strainouse because you are given 5 tasks at once, luckly as a very determined person Iam I could manage and that hard ship pushes you to find yourself something better in life but it was better than staying at home and doing nothing the whole day. Their management showed that how people are abused in the work place due to lack of knowledge and their constitutional rights. Co-workers were positive people we communicated very well and interact successful in group works. In sum sitiations we were not allowed to go to lunch or tea time because we could not finish counting the whole shop at that very same day. This things are one of the reasons made me realise how unfairly employees are treated there. I wasnt happy working there so I cant say I had enjoyable moments.
Proswhen we reached shop's target we got rewarded, extra cash in our salaries or free gift in christmas parties.
Consthey eliminated hour working hours in our salaries.

Fun and ups and downs but learning
It was fun at Pepcell stores expecially when we were organising promotions and making budget ,at the end of the month we will get bonus we took old stock and we used it on promotion day it's where we minimise the price about learning we used to have learning time every Wednesday for one hour we learnt about pep company and what is pep about and how to build our self esteem , how to deal with different customers and how to acknowledge the customer from the door .But we also had ups and downs expecially when we didn't make budget and when they is stock loss ,when the there is no teamwork like when they didn't come with ideas to make the budget successful and the area manager comes and asks us what was our strategy and we were asked questions and our team mates will lie for their benefits but at the end of the day the problem will be solved because every store has it's up and downs
ProsFree uniform that includes jacket

It was great work opportunity with great experience
I started at 7, put on the computer make sure that all Data capturers are available, monitor the attendance register and go to the reception and help register patients until the HIV testing and Counselling office opens at 9 and start my Data Capturing duties until knock-off time at 16:30. Or Work at the X-Ray Department. Management at the clinic were not very supportive of work but was keen on us working at the reception unlike the management at the Department(Health&Social Development). My co-workers were cooperating well and working hard! the hardest part of the job was when I was supposed to be employed permanently but the clinic management took me from pilar to post on the signing the letter of approval. Regardless of all the hardships I enjoyed doing all duties becuase they taught me much.
ProsI have gained experince
ConsWorking hard only to be let down by your management

my work expierence
a typical day at work: you must get your work done what is given to you before you start your day. what you learned: i learned much there how to do my work to the fullest and was in training to become a 2IC that i couldn't finish because we moved to jhb management: our store was without a manager for 4 months so the leadership wasn't their but when the manager came their it was a good environment to work in you new what was expected of you. your co-workers: my co-workers was nice to work with they became like family you could make jokes and they will laugh but we knew when to make jokes and when we must work the hardest part of the job: there wasn't any because if your mind is set to achieve in life you will exceed in life the most enjoyable part of the job: is to know that you have a juo where everyone is greeting you with a smile and care for each other.

Wondeful company to work to
This was a wonderful company to work to.I was working 45 hours per week which was reasonable. The most exiting times is when was the time for conventios because it was where every one was rewarded for their hard work throwout the year. Most stressful times was when the customers need something and you don't have, but because of I was working with most resourceful management, they will make sure that at the end of the day the customers got what they want. What I like most about this company is that they listen to their employees which is their key to success. It was hard to leave this company but the reason for leaving is just that I need new challenge and learn something to other companies or factories,. Thanks to Pep for giving me opportunity to learn how work with people
ProsWe were getting free tea goodies

Hard work always pays off
A typical day at work is do administration ,give job duties and remind staff to first finish what they could not finished. Check emails for important information, share it with staff and also talk about daily targets and share information how to do better . Always be honest and do not compromise on any duties ,do duties immediately . As a manager you always have to be on top of everything in your store you need to know what everybody do and if they understand what duties they need to fulfill.Think out of the box and always have solutions or get help.In the workplace everybody need to work together. The workplace should be your save place because u spend most of your time at work. The hardest part of the job is not making budget The best part is having happy staff and satisfied customers.
