Stimulating and Challenging
I am an Application and Integration Support Consultant and my typical day revolves around checking mail for reported and logged issues from Engen Affiliate Countries. Checking my Remedy calls and resolving issues. Assisting the Business with Recons, running reports and updating Views/Stored Procedures and Jobs in SQL. Running queries and update/inserts in Oracle using PL/SQL. Searching SAP SD for transactions as part of the recon and checking on PI J2SE Adapter jobs and payloads. In my time here I have been challenged on the Applications that I already knew learning many new things in the process and I have also been introduced to other applications and more efficient ways of doing things. I have been involved in a number of projects which has given me insights into other aspects of Information Systems and the different roles and responsibilities associated with them. I have learned and benefitted from my interactions with Management as well as my colleagues who have willing shared their knowledge and experience contributing to my growth both personal and professional. I have enjoyed travelling the various Affiliate Countries and meeting new people, customs, cultures and languages and the expercience has been richly rewarding.

Productive and fun to work there
A typical day at work: A lot of hard work was put in, together with training to juggle around at the same time, but exciting. What I learned: operations fundamentals, HSSE, Chemical operations chemistry and principles, Refinery economics and products scheduling and more.. Management: Management was good knowledge wise and very driven, Work place culture: That was the best place to work, very structured, people were like family to one another, it felt so warm that you wouldn't realize when you don't get recognized and compensated correctly. The hardest part of the Job: when you don't get necessary support from you peers as well as management. The most enjoyable part of the job: When I was thrown in a deep end, given opportunities to lead my team during critical paths activities e.g. Shutdowns and projects, being trusted at junior level based on my caliber and work ethics.
ProsTraining and development was best and company has excellet values.
ConsManagement overlooked when it was time for promotions, in a nutshell - favorism

Greatest place to work
It was most definitely the best place I have ever worked. The work life balance, that filtered down from management, led me to become not just a great employee but a well rounded individual outside of work. They made strides to ensure you felt cared for as an employee through continuous growth strategies and comprehensive fringe benefits. At Engen you are not just number, you are part of a family

Engen
A great company to work for but unfortunately I was only a contractor. Experienced a lot of Africa while with Engen. Unfortunately, our Labour Laws prohibit a contractor being employed for more than 3 years at a time.
ProsTravel into Africa

Good
Good company to work for, but very femanding. I have learned a lot. Management should support employees more when having personal challenges. The staff is supporting each other and the culture is good. The hardest part is managers not doing their part but demanding a lot from junior staff

safty and toolbox tolk
It was a very busy day and one can not predict the daily work operations. I learned to be more responsible and teamwork. Management was not good at all and I only see that now that the management training was not accurate. the culture was good even though the management was not respecting the ethical culture of the workplace .the hardest part was safety precautions. Learning every day a new challenge was the enjoyable part of the job

Ambiente agradable y amigable
ProsBuen ambiente
ConsPoca puntualidad
