Good place to work
Contract position for specified time frame. There would not have been a chance for a permanent position with the company unless they were awarded tenders for future consideration.
ProsProximity and flexible work hours
I worked 12 hrs a day, learned how to set-up and run my cabler machine. I learned how to drive a fork truck to get the materials i needed to complete my job. The management and co-workers were great to work for and with. The hardest part of my job was the hours which were 11am-11pm having supper without my children i love the 12 hr shift just would have rather had the hours 5am-5pm or even 7am-7pm. I love everything about my job there i learned so many things in a short amount of time.
Prosbonuses for perfect attendance
Consthe time of my 12 hour shifts
Very productive workplace, but very friendly people and great teamwork
Typical day at work was pretty repetitive from day to day. I would get there, clock in, change into my work gear, and head to my work station. I would always do my 30 minute morning machine checks to make sure the machine was clean and ready to be used, otherwise I would restring, clean pulleys, check the solution, or do whatever I needed to do to get the machine ready to go as soon as possible. when the machine was ready I would check and make sure whatever I was running into the machine was loaded properly and fully loaded as well. I would say that I learned the most at Coleman Cable then i did at any other job including: machine upkeep, machine maintenance, time management skills, and AS400 computer data entry. Management at CCI was great. They clearly and professionally explained what you needed to do and would help you you through what needed to be done. My co-workers were also great people to work with and if you you had questions they were more than willing to help you and answer any questions you had about anything. I would say the hardest part of the job was the time management part of it because there was so much to do and not a whole lot of time to get it done. The most enjoyable part of a workday there was the people I was able to work with, they were funny, good tempered, and were there when you needed help.
