Productive
A typical day will be receiving an e-mail from head office informing the stuff about what need to done on that particular day, then the store manager will task us in different departments of the store. I have learned how to be productive in things that do not interest me an be able to do an excellent job. and be able to function as group. The management that I 've work under were hard working people who had respect and passion for their work and people. they were great. My co-workers were fun loving individuals even though sometimes we didn't see eye to eye on things, but they were professionals. The hardest thing about the job was that it has little rewards if you not part of upper management regardless how hard you work. The enjoyable put of it, is you get to meet lots of people everyday and interact with them or be able solve their queries or help them shop in the store.
ProsBe able to get emplyee discount on merchandise. and working with greate people
ConsWorking less than forty hours a week. and working on sunday's.

A productive plave but with long hours for the non permanent
Early in the morning we say our little prayer before starting a long day ahead.team then disperse to take boxes and unpack clothes, tag them to avoid loss then assist with customer service. The daY may seem long but once started, time wil fly. At Ackermans i have learned to be patient as i am working with different people from different races. You also have to be a team leader and very flexible because The work needs to be pushed or else you will be adding another load to uesterdays one..the management at ackermans is trying to support us but they sometimes put alot of pressure for thr employees making them to despise coming to work.difficult as it is,you might find that you are alone in the department that is of high risk, you have to unpack and go to tellers to assist payers ,makin it difficult to cope
Prosuniform, we are the phadima team working together
ConsLong hours, management neglect staff

being able to have a christmas party and interact with other collegues
Since i have been working at Ackermans I have achieved alot of things such as, being able to work with money being able to deal with different customers at different occasions and communicating with different individuals. My co-workers and managers have been very helpful in a sense that they are not greedy with information and we mostly got along well with each other. the hardest part is sometimes having to deal with difficult customers and being given multiple tasks to do,but i take that as a step of being trained to be able to work under pressure. The most enjoyable part is when my customers compliment me about a great service they received from me because that helps me to push to do more and it makes me feel great knowing that i have excellently offered my service to our customers and that they appreciate what i do.

Too much work for less pay
I joined Ackermans because I respected their name as a customer. As a permanent shop assistant you would start a day buy getting a float to work in the till. You are also assigned a department to ensure its neat and fully stocked and prices are up-to-date. I didn't learn anything new. You just do as other's do there was no training. The staff was ok to each other, management would give you a run around when you ask about salary or benefits. They will put pressure on you to ensure your department is in its best shape and be angry if you let a customer wait long for you. Basically want you to be in 2 places at once. The only nice thing would be the free staff transp.Worst part the little monthly wage and rude customers who think you were lazing around when you come back to the til.
ProsOne hour lunch and 30 minutes tea
ConsUnpaid overtime, no straight answers about pay and hours worked discrepancies

its good to work on challenging environment,it builds your personality, strength.
every day was a challenge, because i had to meet new different people on daily bases, who has different charecterictics. I learnt to be always patient, understanding,to listen, fast.I learnt how to manage different individuals, customers.my co-workers was always fun to be around them,i normally forget even if i was not feeling good about something, most of the time it was laughter.the only time where dont see eye to eye is whereby there's work related issue that needs to be resolved at the end of the day.Hardest part was whereby i have to do all the task same time and yet still render a good service with a smile to a customer.I always enjoyed where everbody was in good mood, when the customers dont complain about poor service.
Prosbonuses for making target on a certain month
Conslong hours

Very productive , learning experience for me as it was my first job.
This was an enjoyable experience for me. The day would begin with checking out the communiqué from Head Office to determine if there are any markdowns or sales that were planned. If so, stock would be prepared for the markdown or sale. I learnt how to deal with people, learned different cultures etc. My co-workers were exceptional and we were one big happy family. I had the best manager who was more like father figure not only to me but the entire workforce. The hardest part of the job was phoning the SAPS when someone has been caught stealing especially when they are poverty stricken. The most enjoyable part of the job was achieving targets as set by Head Office which was a '' Big Deal'' amongst the different branches.
ProsVery family orientated
ConsIf targets were not achieved, Head Office would come down hard on the branches.

Fun part about my job is when we celebrate public holidays and get to dress up for festive season and holidays like heritage or promoting something
A typical day at work would be during month end when we have alot of customers. The hardest part of my job is not being able to reach my daily target. I really do love learning new things and meeting new people. I enjoy helping people and communicating with them. My jobs allows me to do all of that. What I enjoy about my job is the people I work with, they love making jokes and they are always there for one another. Once you get along with the people You work with you'll never have a bad. They say a good environment allows bring positivity. I strongly believe that if we work together as a team we conquer anything. My colleagues ans I love motivating one another .we believe that if we motivate each other we will accomplish alot of things in life.

it was fun working the and productive too
I remember the day i wanted to go on lunch, but my supervisor wouldn't let me,saying that i should wait for others to come back, they took 15 minutes of my time, then i went on lunch, while i was eating they called me to my till, i went to it,and never complained about it but i was not happy because i never finished my lunch. in all that i learned that in the work place you don't get emotional, and that you do your job when you requested to, and that personal issues should be left at home. My co-workers were friendly, we always putted our differences aside. it was always hard for me to do refunds, because if my supervisor takes time to come and override, the customer will complain to me, some shouts and swear. i enjoyed training the new staff,it made me realize that if i put my mind on something and believe that i can do it,then i can do anything.
Prosfree lunch
Conslong hours

Fun and always chalenging
Each day presents its own challenges and as such you have to find alternative solutions to them. Its was a customer orientated enviroments that open my mind to what customers value the most and that is a service provider who is passionate about their work, exercise intergrity in their business, shows respect, listens and is always kind and welcoming. Our management team were exellent people who were understanding and always encourage their employers to reach for the stars.Co-workers were fun, loving peolple who made the work place to fill like home and were always wiling to give a helping hand to new entrants. Hardest part of the job was working long hours yet meeting new people on a daily basis and geting to know them as customers and what attracts them to the store compasated for everything and made it exciting.
