well it is normal for a certain working environment to have a its own culture and unique traits and PRASA Rail for one was unique in a way.
A typical day at work would be the one which you just get to work grab something to ease you then getting to your workstation and doing what you are hired to do is the order of the day
what I've learned is that to get things done you have to work as team thus not bringing your outside problems into the work place.
In a Company as big as PRASA Rail the management is bound not to be liked but as for the IT industry the management is the head of the train and is responsible for keeping it moving and that's were team work gets in. We all have our fare share of work. As for my Co- workers they are out of this world I enjoyed every minute with them.
The best thing to do is not create conflict between your selves.
I never really experienced a hard part of the job cause we tried by all means to stay positive and find a solution to every problem, no matter how stressing it can be and the most enjoyable part of your job was simply doing your job.

Prasa is a very good company, i been in an interesting position where we deal or work on traction substation which are rear in the country at large. i never knew that the power that is been supplied to the company is not the power that is needed by the trains to move, this power is still need to be converted from AC form to DC form through rectification.
The management skill are needed in the company to minimize the poor service of trains in the community.
The job i am doing has its difficulties just like when there is a problems such as storm which may lead to the cut off and burn out of our electrical equipment which will lead to train delays.But also the is nice side in every work environment, like here is that when you have came up with an i dear that can improve the service the regional manager rewards you.

i am signing on duty, get tested for substance abuse, do safety talk
then i start to find out where are the trains and if there are any challenges eg, overhead power off or derailments
then i report the operating centre, they will tell me if there is any extra jobs for the day eg, shunting.
as the train crew comes on duty i will test them for substance and do safety talks with them and tell them what are they supposed to do for their shifts.
see that the job gets done according to company norms and standards.
the hardest part is when there are challenges and u dont have the necessary tools and equipment to do the job, and the boss want u to do a perfect job.
the best is when i am getting paid and i know really deserve it, and to see the job well done

I work well with senior managers and have described me as a professional person who always put the interest of the company first. 

My experience thought me that without linking employee relations to business strategy and objectives employees will always be dissatisfied with his salary. 

Involving employees in productivity meetings will teach them how wages and salaries are determined. 

The hardest part of my job is when I must defend the interest of the company at CCMA. I loose friends every day.

When we a on duty trying to test the wireless sensor network for the whole day and it was not working, 
I learn sometime to use the emerging technology, and working under pressure, fixing the trunk radios and PA system.
(IT Technicians) I have learn to help peaple through calls and communication skills.
management of the company is so dedicated on their work in such a way that they take their job as first payority
thhe team player, sharing ideas is the benefit of the company if the is a major problem. and is a well established organization.

Management could do with practical ways to assist staff with on the jobs stress due to the exposure to contact with irate clientele due to service often being sabotaged or vandalised. There needs to be a constructive implementation of better stress management programmes for staff. There seems to be a lack of empathy regarding front of line staff or rather staff whom are in direct contact with communters who have been stuck or stranded due to circumstances beyond their control. Customer service can do with a more comprehensive approach.

The level of proffesionalism is very unique and its a very positive environment to work in.

when the trains do not arrive on time as per schedule

Working for prasail has been fulfilling as you find yourself in the multicultural environment. it became easy to.learm about cultural diversity, such experience made me to quickly gain an a little to adapt with different types of people. I am quiet confident that wherever I meet new or old colleagues or clients/customers am able to work effectively with them

Go out to metrorail depot conduct investigation on shortage of cash at depot.Visit SBV offices to view video tapes of incident of shortage of cash.Compile report for management with co workers.The most enjoyable part of my job is adding value to my company.

As a technical person i take my job very important. I believe the type of a skill I have it is one of the important in a working environment that i choose as a electrician
