I highly recommend making sure you speak to others about working in the retail environment before taking on this position. The hours are very long (can often amount to 10-11 hours on your feet, in the shop per day, including every alternate weekend) and there is a lot of tedious work to do, such as constantly counting hundreds of small items of stock, checking expiry dates on each product, cleaning the shop etc. It is also quite difficult to take leave for important events and you will be working throughout the holiday season, including Christmas and new years. 

It is difficult to balance work life and personal life in this position, as you often will finish after 7pm and work full-days on weekends. You are physically exhausted at the end of each shift, since you're on your feet and constantly walking, cleaning, bending, lifting etc. Most of my colleagues were physically and mentally fatigued when I was working there. The employee turn-over is also quite high - many employees leave within a month or two of working there due to burnout.

The training was very interesting and thorough - we got treated to amazing food and got lots of free samples of health products. 

The amount of health-consulting done is minimal compared to the amount of shop-cleaning and stock-counting done. Consider this a stepping stone position and not ideal for anyone with strong interpersonal commitments.

Making sure that each parcel is packed so that its a great shopping experience once the customer opens it. 
It is great when customers complement the online shop service we get lots of emails and face book comments as well as twitter telling us what a wonderful experience it was to shop online, That makes the job fun.
Stock sometimes causes problems with orders not going out, so then you have to contact the customer to say sorry for delay in the dispatching of the order or suggest a replacement if you cannot get the item they are looking for.

I am a sales assistant/beauty consultant at wellness warehouse my tasks are as followed I assist customers replenish,merchandise sent stock to other stores assist at the till point & help the health advisors where I can.
The time I spent with Wellness was a major learning curve as I took a risk entering the health store field and I soared even higher then my imagination as I love learning new things was entering my path
every day and I enjoyed every opportunity. 
I got promoted from ppa (pay point assistant) to sales assistant in 8 months learned a great deal bout the skin and organic skin care.
Management is friendly helpful and understanding more family like than boss like.
My team mates are diverse crazy caring and special each fitting in to the wellness puzzle.
The hardest part of my job is to see a customer upset or unsatisfied.
Meeting wonderful people and learning bout products and there functions.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Standing the while day and doing Jos that are not part of your job description, unnecessary changes that they make on a daily basis ,not feeling secured about our jobs because they always make us feel like we are on the edge of loosing our jobs

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Area managers treat us like robots ,they macro manage us ,they have unrealistic standards and expectations do as to look good as the company but the truth is they don't give a dam about staff

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stock taking, opening  boxes, consulting with customers,admin duties, cleaning of shelves,packing of stock  ringing of sales

My day started at 7:30am and ended at 16:00, however my work was usually done by 14:00 for the latest, so I often worked really slowly at some things, so as to keep myself busy and not have sit and do nothing for the remaining time. Management was good, great communication with staff, friendly yet assertive, did not take advantage of my presence. Co-workers were friendly and hard working. The hardest part of the job was to decide on a suitable filing system that would work for the company and to find something to do when I completed my work. The most enjoyable was sorting out the odd products and samples in storage and colour coding files.

Its a decent entry level job.

Health and wellness will always be a lovely industry to work in because of the type of people who are passionate about the importance of living a wholesome and healthy life.

Furthermore:

Store is always out of stock making it difficult to achieve target and keep customers happy. Customers are always complaining because of that.

Burnout is normal state of being as you're always short staffed and covering shifts or assisting at other stores.

Huge disconnect between head office and floor staff.

Upper management puts a lot of pressure on floor staff because of the lack of accountability at head office level.

You learn new things everyday with regards to products and what they do in the body.

A typical day at work differs with the position, as a health consultant, I interact with customers and assist them on their various health needs, I unpack boxes, pack stock and manage customer orders. Banking, cashing up and contacting suppliers for fresh orders are part of the duties carried out in store by responsible individuals.

The environment keeps one healthy because you tend to know more about health and start practising living well. The trainings equip us with necessary knowledge.

The hardest part of the day is close to nil. It is great when the store is busy, keeps one on their toes and pushing to beat targets.

My day at wellness is Very productive , I have to keep clients happy so always have to be on time and accurate . I have learned that when you keep the customer happy you will always get positive feedback and this way they advertise the company in a positive manner . Management is the best if you give your best and do your work and exceed in all expectations.The culture is diverse there is staff of all walks of live age gender and culture. The hardest part of the job is to accomadate everyone. The most enjoyable part of my job is seeing the clients smiles on there faces when they realized they received excellent service.

You do not stick to your job description, you are required to be able to do everything which is both a good thing but also not as often you'll do other staff's job.

everyday is different, customer are the same most of the time,but working in the health field one learns something new everyday. i have learned how to manage a store and casual staff, also cash up and to deliver great customer service. i work with wonder co-workers who i also learn from each day, hard working and career driven. the hardest part of my job is dealing with customer complaints regarding products ect, but nothing i can not handle. i enjoy chatting to customer and offering advice about health. but would love to find a career or job in the banking sector. accounting has always been my passion.
