I was a casual employee and only worked on weekends, school holidays and on some weekdays so my day would begin with my arrival at the workplace, getting ready by clocking in, changing into the prescribed work uniform, sitting in at the meeting and then the doors would open and we would begin serving customers.

I learned proper articulation, people skills and how to be convincing in my attempt to maximise sales. Since it was my first job, I learned about the job culture and the responsibilities that come with it , such as punctuality, reliability and accountability. I also had to learn manage time effectively for I was  a student on a full time basis

Management was interactive and engaging. He believed in leadership rather than being a manager, therefore disciplinary measure were very rare and rather far apart.

The general interactions with my co-workers was limited to professional requests , such as when I literally needed a helping hand, except for when we engaged in meetings and the organised social gatherings. In those instances we were able to interact socially, brainstorm and find new ways to make the job easier. We also had job rotations, which allowed us to gain experience in other departments, prevent a monogamous working environment and allow flexibility to do other tasks. We exercised good team work.

The hardest part of the job was the pressure and the high pace which was required during peak seasons. During those times customers were demanding, time and service was crucial. One had to keep up with the promotions and make sure the store is always tidy, be attentive to the customers needs and guard against shop lifting.

The most enjoyable part was the satisfaction of the job well done. The acknowledgement during gathering. Commercial awareness which was created by working in a retail culture.

Working at Toys R Us has helped me with the transformation of completing high school to grooming myself to be part of the working environment, Toys R us truly helped me grow as an individual which also shaped my thinking and taught me about handwork and perseverance. 
A normal day would consist of receiving your targets for the day or weekends, what each person was expected to do. Customer Service was of vital importance as they the customer was gold. 
The management under which i worked was professional all the time but when you needed assisting or experienced personal problems etc you could feel free to address your concerns with them. 
The most enjoyable part of the job was getting to try all the latest gadgets which were on the market, assisting customers which would just make your day and the colleagues which made working on weekends seem fun. 
The only hardest part of working in retail has to be the busy time of year where everything happens so quickly, the store is so busy all the time and customers that are rude. 
Working at Toys R us has been an experience which i am thankful for as it really opened my eyes.

Took 3 years to get a pay raise of 50¢ only. Workload is not equivalent to pay. Sexist environment. It seems easier for guys to get promotion than girls, as girls are always placed at service area, not given opportunity to learn more skills out of service, reason given was "girls are better at service than guys". There's favoritism and is clearly shown at work by the manager. Employees are NOT PROTECTED by employers from members of public who treats employees badly. Employers expect us to work progressively but the facilities such as the cashiering machine and price printer are severely outdated and causes difficulties to use at times. The working hours given by office is ridiculous, especially for a flagship store. Some weeks there's not enough staff but the workload given is ridiculously a lot, to which when its incomplete, management will cut bonuses and scold us.

Working as a stocker at Toys R Us has been an incredible experience! The team is supportive, and the atmosphere is always fun and energetic. I've been here for a few months now, and I've learned so much about organization, inventory management, and teamwork.

One thing I love about this position is the sense of accomplishment I feel at the end of each shift. Seeing the shelves fully stocked and knowing that I played a part in creating a magical experience for kids and their families is incredibly rewarding.

The management team is fantastic; they're always available to answer questions and provide guidance. Plus, the flexible hours make it easy to balance work with my other commitments.

Although retail hours are crazy I didn't mind the hours and I really enjoyed working with customers and learning about the different products, however the stores management treated employees like robots and not people.
I personally resigned because I was always shouted at and spoken down to by the supervisor at the time(I don't know if she's still at that store) there isn't really much opportunity for growth in my personal opinion when I arrived at the store there was a woman close to going on pension that had given more than 20 years in service and she was never promoted Likewise with the supervisor that had no respect, she had been there for more than 10 years at the time and got promoted once from cashier to supervisor. I did not mind the salary I was receiving as it was also my first job but there was definitely room for improvement on how they communicate with staff.

The best part of working at the company is to merchandising and make the store look nice and to assist the customers

The stressful part about the working at the company it's when the store its quiet because it's not going to make money

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Company culture is the shared values, attitudes, behaviors, and standards that make up a work environment. It is about the experience people have at work and how that experience aligns with the external brand and messaging of the company.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I usually start my work at 9:00 am, collaboratively plan my day, and make sure that the most urgent work gets done first.

There is never a dull moment from infants to even adults who need or want there specific toy, from pacifiers to legos the list is endless. You get the full Monty to the different types of customers. You get your easy customers and your difficult ones but is how you find a way to please the customer in what they want trying to pull stock from other stores. But in my time I was there i found if very productive and fun I was part of management and found very interesting on how the buyers strategise or budget on toys. Toys r us is not only about toys its about babies or first time moms who want the different strollers of formulas, to nanny cams to nappies. There are different wants at different ages digital gaming, or family time games try to scrabble it together. It was just very fun time.

A very demanding job, especially during the Christmas period. Wonderful work environment which teaches you crucial life skills, communication skills and customer based services. My experience of the staff and the job descriptions were fun and friendly with very little pressure. Dealing with millions of Rands in one till point, has made me a very alert and responsible person. Assisting a diverse population with complaints, queries and compliments has lead to my ability to communicate with others in a very calm manner, I also learned the importance of time management and keeping myself occupied when the store was quiet. It's a toy shop... what's not to love?

A great company to work for. Driven and motivated team with amazing passion for what they do , at all levels. 

Environment can be stressful at times but , as in all companies ,this can be expected ,you need to be able to maintain your own balance if you want to thrive.

Overall , an absolute 👍 for being one of those companies where you can start from the bottom and create a career path. 

It is very hard warming when you have colleagues who are willing to reach the goals set by the team leader. I have learned that a happy employee will always perform to the best of their ability and that being in a retail for so many years one has to be very patient and be willing to go an extra mile for the customer. Management support is very crucial cause they are the driving force behind the company. if all the staff members are loyal and motivated then most goals are achievable. the hardest part of the job is when you are part of management and your subordinates are negative and their moral is low. The most enjoyable part of the job is reaching and achieving the target.
