I am writing this review almost two years after resignation there are no emotional grudges involved. This is my honest, down to earth review.

During my time at Spur, I have experienced many things, some of which has permanently altered my perspective regarding Spur. 

I would often arrive home late after grinding a "double shift" (7:30-21:00) because a co-worker never pitched, or a manager subliminally forces it upon you. There was this ever present "you are expendable" atmosphere looming around managers and the owners so one would feel compelled to abide. Dead on my feet I'd always wonder why I endured such extremities. 

Besides the extreme work hours, cleaning duties after each shift, the staff, managers, and even the waiters proved woefully inexperienced or untrained. If any of those divisions felt remotely overwhelmed, the entire restaurant falls apart.

The serving structure proves inefficient. Forcing waiters to run between tables to take orders, the bar to pour their own drinks, as well as the kitchen, grill and texican section.

Although teamwork is mandatory, everyone defaults to a "everyone for themselves" mindset. If you're serving five tables of about six people each, that's your problem. 

Now here's the pro's regarding my time at Spur.
I've met some extraordinary individuals through working there. Some of which have become close friends, lovers and acquaintances. 

During quiet shifts, Spur would often feel serene, tranquil and almost beautiful in some sense.

Through working there, serving a vast array of strangers from a manner of race and creed, my introverted persona was altered to more of an extroverted state. 

I also earned a lot of money there. On certain nights I'd walk away with a sum close to 600 rand, even succeeding the amount on rare occasion, but was the money all worth it?

But was it all worth the effort? In retrospective... no. During my final months the constant grind left me in a state of dismay. My health suffered dearly, even resulting in hospitalization at one point. Upon arrival for my shift I'd already long to go home. 

Would I recommend applying for a position? It all depends. If you are the kind of individual whom thrives through chaos, won't mind the extremities and are able to sufficiently serve then yes. If anything else, rather seek employment elsewhere. 

Through actual blood, sweat and tears I have earned my keep and I can proudly state that I have survived my Spur experience.

Open the shop, check the previous day's cashup, discounts, plu sales, any customer complaints or queries, check the staffing for the day - staff/management and waiters. Do daily/weekly orders, check quality of products and then open shop. Maintain customer happiness and keep checking on products, and the preperation and presentation of it. Check emails and do adminstration needed. Implement plans to improve and check on budgets, training of staff,management and waiters. Count and control stock etc. Check differences.

I learned to work well with very different people from many backrounds. How to look after irate customers. I learned how to make a budget and how to maintain it, put action plans into place to improve or fix any problems.

It is a very competitive environment where you have to prove your at the top of your game on a weekly basis. The hardest part of the job is dealing with people - from staff to customers or suppliers. Each have there own viewpoint and idea as to how it must be. One of the most enjoyable parts of the job is when you get the people to your side or idea of thinking and it makes the job very much easier and enjoyable.

Starts out with coffee and jokes about our social lives.
way to much to ever repeat and most of it isn't allowed to be repeated, but i learnt everything anyone needs to know about serving guests and making them feel so at home the their home feels awkward enough to send them back again and again also how to handle difficult guests and assuring them that you always have their needs at heart.
management is always helpful and always on the ball.
Co-workers have good days and bad days, but when the most is made of a bad day it turns out to be a very educating day.
Hardest part of the job is watching training videos in a 10x10 room. 
Most enjoyable part of the job is being a part of such a rejuvenating experience and learning that family can be anybody.

Knocking Of Late And Not Having Any Transport To Go Back Home

It's Absolutely Amazing. The Environment Is Safe For Kids To Play And There Are Surveillance Cameras All Over Around The Place...
The Culture Of The Company Is Overwhelming, Food Is Served Hot And Presentable As Always 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
The Company Gets Busy From Morning Opening Time (Breakfast) Till Late Nights Closing Time. So A Typical For Me Is Always About Giving Customers The Best Service And To Up Sale, Old & New Food On The Menu

I have learned to become very responsible and to communicate effectively with the clients. Though management is harassing, it gives one guts to work under maximum pressure. Workers have different views but united for one goal, that is, to achieve positive results. The hardest part of my job is to understand human mind, different cultures and social backgrounds. A misunderstanding can lead to a clash of values between the waitron and the clients hence damaging the image of the former and the company. this can be minimized by believing that the customer is always right and finding quick solutions and speeding up the service to satisfy clients simultaneously. Flexibility, I consider, as the most feature enjoyable as part of my job.

A typical day at work is busy and involves accuracy and time management as well as keeping track of what ever you do , because it might reflect on your behavioural  evaluation. Respect has to be present amongst each other as co-workers, that is the most thing I have learnt and hope to keep through out my working life. The most painful task ever to be under taken as a waitron is to clean up after the entire shift when you are still tired from running around the shop, but on the other hand, being around people and having them to rely on you for help was the most delightful feeling, as I adore working to satisfy people and putting a smile on their face, the motto was clear and clear customer service at all times .

Serving a very difficult customer was so fustrating but luckily enough i had all the skills i needed. I've learned that keeping calm and providing your customer with the best service,will save you from trouble.Management treatment was not fair at all but that never turned me down because i've learned that not everything in life will come smooth. The's no place that knows a team work as resturant people, thats the best and positive attitude i got from working at Spur. The hardest part of the job was to be assigned to serve a table of more than 20 people alone but at the same time it was enjoyable beacause thats where you get a chance to play the part,upsell so as to increase month end sales and commission.

a typical day would be to get the store ready for opening by preparing the foods and staff and then when open making sure that customers get there food are happy with the service and just have a great time
management was very involved in the day to day running of the business and that was great , co workers were hard working fun loving group of people 
dealing with customer complaints as this showed up your weaknesses
the most enjoyable park was chatting to people from different places and also seeing satisfied customers in the shop

Spur is a franchise restaurant with a different management system being managed by Head office, area managers shop operator and store junior managers. The job tend to be tough in quiet months where we struggle to meet the targets, our monthly commission suffers. However we sometimes enjoy shop daily/monthly incentives as well as national promotions and competitions with great prizes to be won by winners. Moreover, Spur taught me a lot through regular training services in hygiene, customer care, communication skills, product knowledge, suggestive selling as well as up selling.

A happy meal for big smiles of customers  and excellent 
service

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The pressure  from the operators fulfilling the customer's needs and speed of service handling complaints and dealing with different Behaviors everyday

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Well about culture I would say it's one sided...the environment warm and welcoming

on my side it's draining  everyday ..bt I just have to keep it going till my last hour
