A typical day at Sportsmans Warehouse starts at 8am with a morning meeting where the tasks and goals are set for the day. All employees have daily sales targets that should be met by closing time. 

I have learnt a lot from working at Sportsmans Warehouse. Skills include working with all types of personalities ( co-workers, management and customers). After every trading month we reflect the good and bad outcomes that we experienced and how we can improve on them and how to prevent them from happening again.

The management are the most friendly, well trained and very professional group of people I have ever worked with. They work hard to keep the store up to standard and encourage each employees where they can.

The hardest part of my job id dealing with difficult customers and having their demands met in a limited period of time. But these type of situations are always motivate me to work harder and strive to do my best. 

The most enjoyable part of my job is trying to satisfy every customer I deal with. Whether it is ordering this for them from another store or simply going the extra mile for them by helping carry their purchased items to their vehicles.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of working at Sportsmans Warehouse is that one gets the opportunity to equip themselves with so much technical information and knowledge when it comes to selling sports equipment, gear and accessories.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There is nothing stressful, some people might consider the fact that they don't provide free transportation for staff members but that's not a big issue because the store closes before the sunset so it's still safe for us to catch a bus or any public transport.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Well it is actually invigorating, especially when the store is busy. Sales Assistants get to move swiftly trying so hard to help and make sure customers are satisfied with the service given by the staff members.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Nice and quiet during the week, staff members get to do a lot of stock counting, merchandising and of course, housekeeping when the store is about to close. So it's a normal easy day.

Sportmans Warehouse is filled with Quality of workers who is committed to their jobs and the goals. My job description as a cashier was always being on time  and develop skills in knowing certain equipment. I have learned to obey instructions and my work has to be done professional as well as independently and working as a team. The management works well together with the rest of the staff to develop strong employees and they follow up on additional responsibilities.The workplace environment is structured always time and again for some fun ,if there were conflict it would be resolved immediately. The hardest part of working in retail was dealing with difficult customers who sometimes could not understand the process and procedures. The enjoyable part of the job is when your work colleagues turns into family where u excited to go and work and enjoy the working environment having happy people around you having to laugh is joyable.

Open the store in the mornings, I then sign off all admin and from there have a managers meeting and then a staff meeting. After opening to the public I do a floor walk and move products to sell and maintain set standards that makes the departments more presentable all day. In the afternoon I do admin checks and focus on turnover. Before close of day we walk the floor to make sure that the store is ready for trading the next day. I lock at night with my managment team.

Some of the hardest areas is exceeding customer expectations which we strive to do on a daily basis. I have a great Team and we work well togther. We are cheerfull team but also a hard working one.

I learned that you are only as good as your last visit and your team. You wont succeed in your career by yourself but growth depends on yourself. 

Learning to interact with people and the bussines structure is the most important part of any bussines as you rely on their return bussines.

Our RM’s and DM’s micro manage the store excessively. It’s a labor minimizing company that operates much lower labor percentages than industry standards with less than 1% annual raises and the company will not disclose bonus incentive programs. Working in the store is great, fun staff, incredible managers, all around fantastic people. It’s DM’s and RM’s use degradation, threat of termination to enforce policy, with very little incentive for management to do well. It has a short ceiling of advancement, no training program for floor level associates,and poor annual incentives compared to the rest of the industry. Without some of the great people in the stores and a few awesome folks at the corporate office that keep them running.

Like all companies, SWH has it's pros and cons. What stands out about them is that they give all the necessary tools for skills training, growth and development from flexible staff, through to management. And this allows for growth in the company. Throughout the year there are continuous product knowledge training, workshops, leadership and management training, skills training for specific departments and general in depth training in each and every aspect of the store. From cash desk, receiving, customer carex through all departments, running, cycling, swimming, exercise, outdoor, transports, apparel.  It's a company that supports it's staff in it's development. The hours may be long, but it's not any worse than other retail companies.

A typical day was hectic, But I actually love to be busy and help Customers.  I learn a lot and is very glad that I have the opportunity to work there, the staff was not organized and at first I have to be very strict , but show them that I also can help them to be a better person and do the best for the company. I work well with most of the Management, yet the Manager like to accused the workers and me in front of the customers. The hardest part is the mornings that I must pick up co-workers in the most dangerous places in Kimberley, woman alone where the Police not dare to go alone ! 
The most enjoyable part - to make my target and the last stock take that shows that the losses was cut in half from the previously years.

My typical day at work would be when theres less work to do and the time movement is on a go slow therefore my day will be longer than usual,I have learned time management,working smart,looking  presentable,boosted my confident,to always keep myself busy because I will never know who is watching me and most importantly never bring my personal problems at work as it can affect my performance.Management is excellent,I have learned that I should have a good working relationship and definately know my boundries and that implies to my co-workers too.The hardest part would be my weakness as sometimes I do less work with less effort and I enjoy my job when theres a sale on or when there is plenty of work to do,therefore I am too focused and thats my full performance.

When i went for work experience at Sportsmens Warehouse i was fascinated by the techniques that were taught to me that would result to a successful sale to the customer. The manager was very helpful and interacted well with all the employees including myself. i made sure that i was early to make a good impression and it made it easier for me to adapt in the work place as time went by.My co-workers at the time were friendly and took the necessary steps to teach me. The hardest part was being able to explain the items that were being sold but it wasn't a huge concern since i wasn't mainly there to sell products.The enjoyable part was talking to the customers and putting a smile on thier faces as well as enjoying time with my co-workers.

Working for Sportsman's really taught me so much about retail bussines,and to be part of management taught me a lot of tricks on how to get the staff motivated and perform to the best of their ability.

-when you give an objective is always best to follow up
-The hardest part of my job will be when am doing the provision,which is basically taking the total turnover for the whole year and subtracting all the expenses that the company has spend interms of salaries, equipment hired,maintaining the store ,and tell how much profit we made.
-What I enjoy the most is when we do the events,eg valentine's race we get to participate and have fun
