A typical day at work was as hard as it can get at an IT company in the beginning its nice and fun to work at Matrix Warehouse computers but as time goes on I started dreading the day and wishing it could just end and go home. I did however learn a lot from matrix such as how to fix complex hardware and software issues and how to do it while not breaking anything as you will pay for it and if the store does not make target and go over it you don't get comms and you have to pay for what ever you broke over a 3-6 months period, 6 months if you are lucky.

Some of Matrix upper management are friends with in store managers and thus things run smoothly in a store due to that small fact but that also means that the warnings run just as smoothly and with out proper cause only because the manager does not like you or you had a disagreement with your manager, so what ever you do just keep quite and don't have disputes with your manager as it will lead to written warnings for mistakes you may have made a week ago just because the manager wants to show you he/she is in charge and you will listen to them or suffer the consequences. 

Workplace Culture is sometimes the only thing that got me threw the day, luckily I had a colleague at matrix who always smiled and always motivated you to keep on going and not quite someone who had brilliant communication skills and conflict resolution skills and who deserves to be a manager but who needs to be thought somewhere were work does not distract him from the learning process. 

The hardest part of the job for me are mixed in a bundle of Anger, lack of sleep( my own fault), customers who are hard to deal with and also standing all day long not allowed to sit down until your lunch break and then there was the manager and assistant manager. The manager sits in the back office all day long (10 hours) doing daily ordering which they have proven can be done in less than 3 hours and sometimes refuse to assist clients as they are busy, they also use the excuse that it takes all day as it is bulk ordering as well when in fact the very same manager has proven it can take less than 6 hours. 

The most enjoyable part of the job for me was fixing the computers and building of pre-build desktops and reloading software, doing clones, backups and learning something new almost everyday.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Customer service and customer Care.
Putting smile on the face if clients, by reviving their old loved computers and giving them a professional advice in terms of anything related to software and hardware related queries. 


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Salary is very much little.
Failing to meet the clients obligations in terms of over commiting and when the task at hand is beyond one expertise. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
We do it for one another, We revolved around one another, when one struggles we both fails, There's a spirit of coming through to certain extent. nevertheless human beings are just human at times 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
service delivery.
that's the selling and servicing the clients, interacting with the suppliers, sourcing the much more high selling items and scarcity items, that can only be acquired online, so having golden oldies as your customers base, one goes extra mile every day.

A good place to start your IT journey in tech or sales.The biggest challenge is , it is in a retail industryso a lot of complaints come through from clients.Stock available on the website but not in the store (they do not mention that).Prices in store and website are different.No direct line for online buyers to contact the online sales department .The ground people get all the complaints (half of which they are not aware of).
Warranty and refunds are huge problem , some clients end up fighting the staff.Unnecessary micromanaging instead improve the quality of shopping experience.

Management, especially at the Alberton Head Office, treat staff members like garbage. With a motto of "do not feel special, anyone can be replaced" constantly smothered in your face by one certain higher management official. Nepotism and favourism is of a very high level in this company so chances are if you are not close family or friends with higher management, your chances of advancing in the company is very slim. 

To sum up: very low pay, long hours, lots of pressure, disgraceful attitude from management, no appreciation for hard work, slim chances for advancement within the company.

There was a time where working here was pretty good, Excellent comm structure fairness and just overall caring sense of proudness of working there at the time, Management changed and benefits disappeared no one cares about staff and their problems and challenges you tend to feel as if you are a dog, You will also hear stories of staff being lied to and broken promises taking places across the company, severely under paid in a IT perspective. the attitude is pretty much take it or walk 

- A typical day i will be inhouse technician most of the time, from time to time we do get call outs that i will have to go do, if i have no technical work i will help with sales.

- I gained a bit of experience with trouble shooting, in this line of work you never stop learning,

- Management is mostly done by the owner Duncan and Linsey the Manager, personally don't think Linsey is best person to be manager.

- Eben (junior tech) most of the time talks a bit too much
- Linsey (manager) makes a lot of mistakes 

- Hardest part will be working retail hours
- Best part we all work well together

Everyday you get to learn about new product whether it is with a client special ordering a product you do not have in stock or new product that will be sold in a store. Management is strict and just wants the best for the company. 

The hardest part of the job is making your set sales target as everyone has a different amount they have to make to receive commission on top of your monthly salary.

The enjoyable part of the job is the training of a new product. You get to learn a lot.

My work consist of assisting clients, maintaining relationships with clients and assisting my manager with running the store. Management in the company is fairly good but there are some gaps in our communication. My colleagues and I work well as a team and we are like family. The best part of my job is the clients and my colleagues. The hardest part of my job is the angry clients and disputes with others, also working every public holiday without being compensated for the days.
