Khethimpilo (NGO)

I was a Youth Facilitator so my job was to recruit beneficiaries to the program and provide health services, each an every day I had to reservice beneficiaries in the communities. For the job to be well done, you must be physical fit and be prepared to walk long distances rather than relying on the phone.

I have learned that our communities needs us, the services that I rendered should not end because I am not there, but I have to tell the beneficiaries that I am now not working for the organization, they need to also adhere to other facilitator even though communication between them will never break. I touched lives.

The job is not hard but because they are now using technology to capture each beneficiary serviced or reserviced there are network issues in remote communities so be prepared for that, and always have a pen and paper for recording and work when you get network.

The most enjoyable part of the job is that, you don't work in the office and wait for beneficiaries to come to you, you visit them, listen to their stories and by that you know how you touch lives of individual even though you won't help but by listening and give advice that person becomes at ease.

We were assigned to work 40 hours a week that means8 hours a day, we had an hour for lunch 
We were testing a number of 13 clients a day that was a target
Our target group was people in most remoted areas, young adults mostly males
The work was good and it gives me a lot of exposure and experience 
Seeing clients willing to test and know their statuses was the most achievement I liked

What is the best part of working at the company?
Gaining more experience about how to take care of sick clients and how to educate them on their medication 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being robbed because we're working in community we are not safe at all

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Im working as community health care worker so we are going door to door,we are working in clients home

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
We are working nicely with our coordinators

Usually i do capturing of files, class registers and themes registers.
I learned to attentive to detail and data management. The culture was not easy since we worked at school but as a person you need to  adapt. When you are told to drop everything and do something which is not on your work plan and its needed with immediate effect. Being a team player was very good although on most cases I was working on my own without supervision.

It's nice to work for them you just have to know what you are doing the older staff that you working with they also help and assist you when you are new to the team it's just sometimes dangerous especially the areas that you working in because we are walking if the could just make it possible for transport for everyone and juste to increase the salaries really they could pay the workers R5600 tht is really reasonable because we work like 40 hours per week and it's very responsible work

I was deployed to colored schools  and I have learned different diversity in culture.
The most enjoyable time was where I was in front of school children and doing team building activities
Managing about 40-50 students was the most of my hardest time because when there are many kids they make lot of noise

I've worked for Khethimpilo since 2016 and I've gained a lot over the years and I have grown both mentally and socially. Khethimpilo is an Organization that strive to do the best in rendering services to the community and works well in partnering with other stakeholders to achieve the quality work needed in any community.

Was nice to work with a KI team, managers wee very friendly easily to Socialise. Always around and willing to help. Always looking forward to work. Guide lines were cleare, trainings always available. Benefits was great 

I attended a workshop. I took notes. After three weeks  during the meeting my manager asked me to give a feedback. That never happened. I surprised her. I took information leaflet and started to give feedback. She was happy to see I am a responsible person.
