The benefits at GD are great!  In addition to vacation time we also received ample personal and sick leave.  The benefits packages provided are inexpensive and the 401K plan is well managed.  For the most part GD is a good place to work however, the communication from management to the rest of the work force needs some work.  The hardest part of working at GD is the lack of communication and not receiving clear direction on what is expected of you.  The most enjoyable aspect of working for GD has been the people I have met and the 9/80 work week.  Everyone I have worked with over the years has proven to be extreamely helpful and knowledgeable.  I developed a lot of good relationships with my co-workers.

GD allowed the customer to specify requirements that ultimately were unaffordable, leading to program cancellation and the shedding of over 500 jobs in multiple WARN-act waves. They give 60-day layoff notices and expect employees to continue to work.

A lead with GDIT with 8 techs who oversee the pc lifecycles on a daily basis and ensure the clients are happy with the service.

Getting to meet people.

A typical day at work included a very busy day with demanding customers.  Management was very helpful and always on site.  My co-workers were great people and a joy to work with.  The hardest part of the job was the commute and sometime the stressful work load/environment.

The workforce was good.  Large company but you still felt somewhat like family with your immediate management.  Flexible hours when the Contract could support it.  Management was good at providing a work-life balance approach.

While the work was rewarding, GDIT failed to do their job renewing my security requirements in a timely manner. Their failure and dropped ball cost me 2 years of having no access to clearance jobs and a lost of over $300,000. 

Good employer, good work/life balance, engaging company events helpful in booting morale. Most enjoyable part includes the employees. Employee appreciation rewards and incentives also available.

I would have enjoyed a better work life balance. Looking elsewhere to begin a new career path. Would like to feel more engaged and happier in the work.

Great company to start out working for after recently separating from the military.

Fun place to work and good learning environment. You are encouraged to learn new technologies and implement them.
