1. Could not be planned as spent more than 50% of your day in meetings. The goals and objectives set would move constantly. They wanted change however did not allow for the change to occur in terms of the level of expertise they recruited 

2. Learned resilience and stamina, also that it is not personal it is the culture of the company 

3. Did not enjoy working with management been French owned the challenge I found was that they were not approachable, they often cursed openly at employees and employees were very disgruntled. The attrition rate from middle management up in the period I was there was 36%. This meant that the company did not stabilise as there was no consistency. 

4. Trying to find work-life balance as the hours were very demanding in terms of the role been performed. 

5. The relationship built with my team and some of my other colleagues worked closely with. Unfortunately all have left now

A typical day at work commences with atleast 3 mandatory meetings.
The outcomes of these meetings will then drive the activities for the day.
These may include providing technical support to production, maintenance and (or) planning.
This will require either my direct involvement or will require me to assign the relevant engineer to the required activity.
Generally the types of issues presented for my attention will be production technical issues, which could be scrap, downtime or process related.
I will then form part of our QRCI team for any major issues and have to provide input and or soultions to the major issues which present themselves on the day.
The hardest part of the job is being called apon to provide solutions with minimal resource within the engineering department.
As far as the most enjoyable part of the job is concerned, I would have to say it is the problem solving aspect.

If employed as an engineer, work is very stressful and can be overbearing more often than expected. Be prepared to sacrifice lots of your personal time as the company almost always operates 24/7.

If you can handle the pressure and don't mind the odd working hours then it is a good place as the salary is slightly above market average.

Typical work hours would be starting at 8am, taking lunch at 3pm and leaving after 5:30pm if lucky. Also be prepared for whatsapp messages during the early parts of the night through to the early hours of the morning. 


Please note this is in the Cape Town plant. Our international plants are complete opposite, work life there is good and you are respected, however job placements are very rare in the international plants.

Typical day at work:
High pressure on JIT supply and customer relationship management, fulfilling routines, monitoring JIT Window and reacting to risk to supply, training and coaching on problem solving and general work. Housekeeping & Data collection is key. Managing a team of 22.

What I have learnt:
Holistic Quality assurance, relationship management, continuous improvement methods, work study, employee empowerment, lean Manufacturing systems, Pull system (kanban), Project Management, layout and headcount optimization.

Hardest Part of the job:
Long working hours, red tape delays, communication, employee engagement, reward system, cost saving structure.

Management:
High employee turnover.

it is a good company to work, however time management is an issue as you can not plan for the day as we are always in a reactive mode. I have learned more about production management and quality system or standards. Management style must improve and should pay attention to the wellbeing of employees, create a work life balance culture. There is not define culture for Faurecia, but people respect each other, work well together to achieve a common goals and objectives. The hardest part of the job is when you deal with employees who are illiterate and don't understand the processes of the company as they are written and communicated in English, to change the mindset of employees and management in terms of compliance on statutory requirements.

I was employed due to my IT skills in SAP to assist with a very poor logistics implementation done over a 6 week period, which today is still causing far too much work for the department than it should as it's diluted in function as does not suit our very manual market.  It was a copy and paste from overseas without diligent mapping on our local processes to ensure fit for purpose.  It causes too much manual work and forces the logistics team to work both inside and outside the system in order to complete their daily tasks.  This is not best business practice, not in line with what SAP function is all about and causes a very high turnover in staff in this department.  Workload is a health hazard.

Went to work when I was sick it was typical./I have learned a lot coz I worked all the stations. from the start at (injection molding/ I.P line building ford Rangers dashboard & tunnel console * Door Panel line doing Rangers Panel * Bu90 doing dashboard & door panel for Nissan NP 200 * D22 doing door panel for NP 300 & Renault. * Paint line * Logistics * final inspection * small parts stations * Forklift driver * where house receiver * Picker and dispatches to Ford. So I've learned a lot Everything about interior and inspection./ Manageable./ wen being behind with the target because of reject or short of parts den work till late to cover the target. Its hard / wen it comes weekend overtime we find joy knowing ching ching is on the way.

Daily follow-up of orders placed, solving price issues and invoicing.
I learned new ERP systems and to own everything i had to do and account for it. I work well with different characters of people in the office and able to teach new people about our company and what they need to do and who can help them with different aspecs of the business. The hardest part of the job is working long hours under pressurised environment but it is enjoable to see the projects completed with success and travelling overseas and around the country visiting suppliers and working in different branches of the company.

The working environment among the operators was great,we cud even sing and dance together while we busy working.
I have learned how to work as a team member and as well as an individual.
M y colleagues were great we were supporting each other so much.
The hardest part was when you have to do a change over lifting big machines.
I enjoyed being a team leader especial if the production is 100% ok.


My time at Faurecia  was awesome. 

Awesome because I always made it great for myself and those whom I associated myself with. 

Every business has its ups and downs. 

Every business has employers and employees that will always find it challenging to see eye to eye.

At the end, working for this company was an amazing experience. 

Though leaving the company was not an easy decision, but it was a decision that I had to take.
