As customer service hosts, we handled incoming chats and emails only. There are set KPIs which will determine your performance appraisal/yearly bonus, whether you are promoted, etc.

My customer service skills greatly improved during my tenure. Many valuable lessons regarding the operations within a customer service environment such as what it takes to be successful and how to handle stressful situations in such a high performance environment.

Management is not keen on assisting those who truly deserve raises, promotions, etc as that is mostly determined by KPI scores. Micro-management has also crept in far too often in a business that 'does not believe or support micro-management. They are not to keen on improving processes and procedures when feedback is given, instead they rely too much on statistics, KPI targets, etc.

There is quite a lot of diversity in terms of culture, race, etc and some of the people you meet is what makes the company pretty decent.

I found the hardest part of the job to be the types of customers we assisted in a high performance environment. There is very little room for failure or that even allows for a drop in performance.

The most enjoyable part of the job is having to meet some amazing colleagues who turn into friends.

The company as a whole was great, they had a great work ethic and mentality to motivate and get the best out of its employees.

The work I did was customer service based for online sports betting as well as being part of the Social Media team. 

There was not much micro-managing and you were expected to get on with your job. They were constantly trying to up-skill their staff and had a firm belief in promoting from within the company if they deemed you eligible and you had the skill set for the position. 

The group of employees were young and full of energy. I worked in the sports department which was great as I LOVE sport. There were TV's put in and around our department so we could keep up to date with the latest sports going on around the world.

I feel it was definitely a place to work at, my heart was just not really in it as I want to be involved in a more hands on environment involved in sport.

I had a great experience at DigiOutsource. As an International worker they offer me 3 free months accomodation in Cape Town. Enough time to save some money and to settle down. Also I get automatically a bonus every three months, and it has nothng to do with my work producitivity. They call it a retention bonus. If you are foreigner you also a get a free plane ticket per year to go home or for travelling. We also got a free meal per day at the cantine. Salary honestly was  much much higher comparing to other call center companies in Cape Town.

DigiOutsource really try to retain their people and seems to care and try to keep eerybody happy. I really enjoyed that.

Only downside for me was the night shifts (one week per month) and the product, but you cannot get the butter and the money of the butter. People get promoted to other department ( to escape from the night shifts) but I sadely get  a burnout after a year and resigned.

Overall Digioutsource is a great place to work in CPT, with very helpfull and lovely people. If you want to come to CPT and enjoy beautiful South Africa while working, I highy recommend DigiOutsource.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Free food. One free meal per day with a wide variety of dishes to choose from.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Unrealistic expectations and a team of watchdogs from the UK looking over your shoulder all the time. People getting retrenched that have been working there for more than 20 years. No motivation to do a good job. It is never enough.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic. It deteriorated since the company went public. Employees are now treated as dispensable. If you deviate a millimeter from your path of overachievement as crafted by the watchdogs, you get placed on an accelerated work plan that only have one of two outcomes;  dismissal or if you are lucky, retrenchment. I resigned. That place cost me my health and well-being. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Hit the ground running and hope you don't get noticed.

A typical day at the office ranges between laughter and fun in between working hours.

I have gained many skills in this position as a risk and fraud agent ranging from analytical and critical thinking as well as high levels of accuracy and client liasing to understanding and monitoring behaviour of individuals in an online setting.

The management team are transaparant and maintain an open door policy,ensuring that their employees are looked after and are satisfied with their working conditions.

The hardest part of the job is the shift work. The job itself is very enjoable and requires 100% focus and quality output.

The most exciting part of my job is my colleagues as we are a very young and vibrant group which makes the work environment one which is enjoyable as these are the people you need to be in constant contact with especially due to the work environment of a risk agent.

DigiOutsource is a great place to work as the people there are genuinely helpful and friendly. The salary is decent as a platform for someone who is finding their feet in their career, however the nature of the work there can get tedious as a customer service host very quickly. Although there is opportunity for promotion over time there, the progression path is quite cluttered and arduous as the performance indicators used by the company don't necessarily line up with the requirements of higher positions in the company. This can therefore limit your chances to show what you are truly capable of within the expectations of a day to day work environment.

My team leader and coach was the best, they really made my experience better. Before DOS I thought my previous company was top class, since DOS I've never experienced the same feeling in any other company.

They always wanted us to participate in activities.
Hardest part was managing and assisting 5 chats at once but after  while you figured it out.
Multiple screens made the job fun and enjoyable.
My typical day at work was so fast, we just start our shift and the next thing we knew its over cause we were always busy.

Learnt a great deal in short time of working there. The most important part was how I learnt to have confidence in myself and take on any challenge.

Flexible in terms of being able to choose the days when you would come to the office. Mandatory 3 times a week in the office, 2 days working at home which is good for work life balance. 
Depending on who your manager is, working here can be really pleasant. Having a good manager really makes a difference to your overall experience working here. 
Dress code is casual which is great. 
Decent benefits that is offered. Everything depends on which team you are in in terms of the amount as well as type of work you will receive. Actual work may not meet your expectations in terms of enjoyment. Growth is dependent on you as well as your manager pushing you. 

 

Working at DOS is at first a brilliant place to work.
It has benefits upon benefits and they aren't scared to spend and treat their internal customers.

DOS provides many perks, but the one it does not, which I find crucial, is a normal routine life.

The shifts at DOS are in a constant change, your body adapts to the shift only to be told that it would have to adapt to another one. (this happens every week).

Though the perks of having free gym, free personal trainers, free this and that, you work so that you hardly ever get access to the perks that they offer you.

This review is done from a "shift-working" perspective. If you work normal trading hours, the review would definitely look much more different.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Free lunches are nice. Salad bar or chefs special or sandwiches

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Non stop unpaid overtime expectations. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic.  I have never been in such a hostile work environment before. Nobody is your friend.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Parking is an issue, if you're not early you'll have to park at canal walk and catch the bus back. The coffee bar is nice. Offices are nice but the upper management are not nice people to work for
