I spend most of my day/s studying public service legislation and/or regulation and other legislation related to procurement of information and communication technologies good and services within the public service. Giving legal advice to the standing committee on procurement IT goods and services. participating on the Bid evaluation committee as DPSA representative for  IT goods and services tenders.
I have learned how to conduct legal research, to present and write reports of high standard as well as ensuring achievement of economies of scale via transversal procurement..
My chief directorate constituted of a Director, Deputy Director, Administration intern and myself.
Our everyday culture was to deliver on every mandate and task by going an extra mile.
The hardest part was to convince the Director General from the department of telecommunication and postal services, that the State Information technology Agency Act 88 of 1998, as amended needed to be amended and must be acted upon quickly.
I enjoyed participating in the standing committee on procurement the most.

day at work mostly we follow our project plan to unsure the audits are completed in time, give advice where required. i have learned that plannin phase of the audit is more important it requires more time and effort, time management this include the project plan, setting of objective (things you need to learn for each type of audit) at the beggining of the audit and also assessing what you have learned/ achieved at the end of the audit, also conduct proper reaserch/ guader information about the client. also learned the quality of all work performed should up to standard to ensure value added. the of hardest part is where you see that some co-workers are not working as time and mangement is not doing anything about that, not getting much guidance from swupervisors and when projects are not finalised in time, furtheremore when management don't show any appreciation of my hard work. i really enjoy doing a task finalised it before the set timeframe and is of good quality especially when it is my first time doing it and see my subordinate improving and achieving the objectives set in the beggining of the project and even more.

The Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) is an employer that cares about its about staff. A service oriented department and an employer of choice. The department overseas and regulates employment practices in the entire public serces. 

My typical day is a very busy day with a series of meetings with various members of the portfolio. I do a lot of financial analyses to advise Minister on challenges and successes of entities' financial performance.

I also head the international relations unit, providing Minister with international related services on Multilateral and Bilateral agreements. I also advice Minister in African Union Matters when need arises.   

.DPSA is a deadline driven department having to handle various conditions of employment

Interaction with stakeholders strengthened my communication and interpersonal skills. Involvement in the development of a policy that would determine contribution by government departments to the skills development was the highlight of my employment at the department.  The environment allowed for innovation and therefore open to people's views.One was able to own up to the process and be willing to celebrate milestones achieved as well as receive criticism where there were challenges.

DPSA is a National department that oversee all other national departments including Provincial and Local government. It was fun working with all the departmental units and external stakeholders. Beings trusted with a role of organising Ministerial Imbizo was my highlight of how roles are being shared in the department.

I really enjoy working at the Department of Public Service and Administration because I am learning everyday. My supervisor is always there for me to check on my work and correct me where I'm wrong.

I learned how the government sector operates and I got to do the theory of school practically e.g travel bookings. I learned that administration in government is the core function of the organisation.

Secretarial duties and office assistant duties.  We were a tream of 4 all on contract.  we worked for 3 months and I was requested to work two week extra at no pay doing a hand over

It is the same work place culture as any government department even though they have different mandates. The research was different that of private sector

DPSA is a Fun and productive working environment. It is enjoyable and people around here are welcoming with warm hands.
