Reviewing quality issues and process related challenges that might have arose and strategise how to overcome them. I have learnt that team work and communication are very important in my field of work and you should have a broad network of people to get some projects sucssessfully done.
Our management is a flat structure and have an open door policy.
We form a very strong team with my co-workes and present a united front when in fron of our subordinates. We disagree from time to me but thats the nature of the job we do.
The hardest part of the job is when things go wrong and you do not have a clue what could be the cause and have to spend long hours tring to figure it out.
The most enjoyable part of the job is when implementing systems that make the job easier for the operators and coming with permanent solutions to process and quality issues. Delivering a quality product first time everytime.

at columbus we mainly focus on production not forgeting safety as a way of life and safety is mostly emphasized and enforced,ppe is not compromised and is provided,i have learned safety,continuous production,meeting targets and deadlines,handling pressure,working on weekends and holidays,the management is very good and comply to the laws of country and global community in terms labour laws,iso 1400,adhering to NOSA standards as well as international standards.i have learned to co exist with different people of different colour,culture,sex,religion etc and respect for individual of which tha is one of Columbus values.it is hard when things are not going your way due to some interference of machinery and malfunctioning,i find pleasure in my job when i am excelling.

A typical day as work is just doing inspections as it is preventative maintains and report and my findins to my foreman and if plant its running smooth i do housekeeping and build up spares needed nda fix what needs to be fixed. I learned alot with the job tha i do ,management and co-workers of which is discilpine, understanding,time management, helping even when not needed.
The hardesst part of the job its when theres a breakdown because it needs all the knowledge skills you have as the breakdown must be fixed cause production is our bread and butter meaning the plant must run for us to survive. the most enjoyable part of the job is when i can fix a problem it less time than expected and doing it right and when the mechanical avaliability it 100%.

Attend to first line maintenance and production breakdowns, which include plant re-sets, including overhead cranes and fault finding (if needed). 

I've learned about pump systems-acid pumps and booster pumps, and how to strip and rebuild them. I've also learned the needling and pickling process, which includes from uncoiler, welder, heating furnace, quench systems, de-scalers, shor blasters, acid bath systems and strip dryer.

Management is very helpful and encouraging.

We work in teams and we give extra support to areas which are not part of our job description, which includes production.

The hardest part of the job are the shifts-18 day shift cycle, including weekends.

The most enjoyable part of the job is learning something new everyday.

What is the best part of working at the company?
working on heavy gearboxes, heavy cranes, hydraulic systems, cooling systems, pumps etc

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
nothing for me...its a great challenging environment made for people who enjoy challenging tasks like me

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Good work force, good communications, teamwork and unity

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
a day full of challenges and always requiring 100% concentration

In the morning we have a safety meeting. Then I would go for inspection and give feedback to my on job trainer. After I work on my project. Currently I was busy with a project of replacing load cells with a radar level sensor.
I got exposed to a lot of instrumentation like level,flow,pressure,pH, conductivity, temperature and density
It was a healthy working environment
Since I was just an inservice trainee not all my inputs were considered
The most enjoyable part my job was when I was given a task to do by myself and I would get it right.

The hardest part of my Job is to work non stop untill the breakdown is finished and the line is up and running again .

The most enjoyable part of my job is the fact that i am able to learn something new every day  and that i cqn improve my personal skills on faultfinding and  machine maintanance

SHIIFT WORKER,BECAUSE YOU WORK ALONE YOU LEARN TO DO FAULTFING AND SOLVE PROBLEMS TO ENSURE PLANT AVAILABITY AT ALL TIMES,GREATE SUPPORT FROM THE MAINTANANCE TEAM ON SHIFT AS WELL AS THE PRODUCTION TEAM,GOOD MANAGEMENT SUPPORT AND THE HARDEST PART OF THE JOB IS MAKE SURE YOU DO EVERY WRITE THE FIRST TIME TO AVOID RE-OCCURENCES OF THE SAME PROBLEM AND MINIMISE DELAYS AT ALL TIMES TO PRODUCE NO 1 QUALITY.

It was a great company to work for, management was willing to take/listen to suggestions for its improvement.

Because of economical alternates it experienced a lot of re-shuffling.
