A typical day at work would involve going on board a Tanker Vessel(ship) and carrying out very complex Inspection of the Cargo that has been imported into our country's shores. I have learned to be very focused and Accurate in my observing of data, i have mastered time management and availability on the phone, i work extreme hours ( 02:00 am where the vessel must be signed off by the Surveyor and Loading mastered before pilot can take off)

the most enjoyable part about being a Surveyor would be the Co-workers, the crew on the different vessels are international, meeting different people daily. The freedom to work and express yourself in your work without being discriminated against or target by Managers in an Office are just some of the advantages that Surveyor enjoy.

I have learned to Lead from the front lines and any Company that is as innovative and willing as i am to Employ me would notice that i go  the extra mile because i believe that there lies the keys to any man's success.

A typical day at work would be to attend to queries and provide solutions as quickly as possible so as not to jeopardize business operations. 

I learned high level time management by ensuring reports are submitted on timely manner for effective decision making and knowledge on how finance support function must always be fully interactive with company's operations in order for departmental managers and finance team to have the same objective towards achieving corporate vision.

Company management is focused on day to day results improvement towards achieving annual budgets. 

Workplace culture is highly interactive. 360 degrees feedback is encouraged purposely for operational efficiency.

Hardest part of the job is working long hours in order to achieve back to back deadlines that we usually have throughout the month.

Most enjoyable part of the job is working flexible hours and having cooperative finance team that would work together to meet deadlines.

A typical day would involve starting off at a morning planning meeting where I get to learn the activities for the day.
This would then give me the chance to plan accordingly and organise my day in preparation for which inspections I would attend.
This was my first time working at a large Power Station 618MW generator capacity,therefore all that I have learned I have learned it here.
Management is very cooperative and helpful.
Co-workers are the greatest people to work with because we are able to assist and support one another thereby making work easier.
Hardest part of the job is dealing with maintenance personnel because they do not want to entertain inspectors in their tasks but the culture improved tremendously and only a few isolated cases call for the most stringent measures.
Measuring the success rate through calculation of rate of plant failures thereby giving an indication of how effective inspections were.

The work is very challenging to a point that it requires you to give more than just an attention because we are working with very sensitive staff. What I have learned is to become a great communicator all the time because I work with different  clients and you need to always communicate well when talking to clients for better understanding and good service. I also learned to always show empathy when talking to clients to be able to gain their confidence and not over promise and underdeliver.

Management is good, they are always encouraging towards staff to keep on doing good work and don't let  small mistakes shut down our confidences as employees. Great team work is always encouraged and compliments are given where they are due to motivate staff for better.

The hardest part of the job is that it requires you as person to be more accurate at all times, and  to always make clients happy and go extra mile to win their trust and confidence in you.

Every day is a good day at work. Challenges are part of the job, and succeeding keeps the fast pace alive. I learned a lot with my time spent with this company, and we as employees had the opportunity to grow with the company. Employees are self motivated and management can ensure that each team has their own initiatives and follows through. The culture is positive and employees are trained to ensure that each function can be fulfilled by any person. Expertise jobs would only be handled by those in a competent/ authorized position. Hardest part of the job, would be to get new contracts with the specified skill set.

I enjoy this job, as I enjoy working with people, problem solving and effectively implementing required systems, to ensure continuous growth of the business.

Not a pleasant experience. I do not have anything good to say about the company. I originally applied to an advertisement by BV RSA, travelled from Durban to Johannesburg (560 km) at their invitation to be interviewed by them, I was offered the position of Vendor Expeditor which I thought at the time was working directly for BV RSA, however they then past me to a Labour Broker who then sub-contracted me through BV RSA to Black & Veatch to perform the duties of Vendor Expeditor, both BV and the Labour Broker took a cut from my hourly rate. I worked on this contract for over 5 years, firstly in South Africa you cannot be choosy who you work for due to employment situation and the Government BEE policy, also my age might have prevented me finding other suitable employment. I do not wish to say more on the subject.

Ensure that the toolbox talk for the shift is available.
Ensure that the contractors on site reported the scheduled activities for the shift and the areas of work.
Perform site inspections and walkdowns to ensure that all work areas is safe for the personnel on site.
Without the support of managment the best safety system will never be a succes.
Managing employees from different countries and language barriers is challanging.
Reporting on duty and to knowm that every day i will make a difference in at least ten peoples lives and change their views about the safety culture on site.

The hardest part of the job is following up spares from third party contractors 

The most enjoyable part is commissioning the plant and have no reworks.
