Full Job Description

We are a busy, modern dental practice seeking a friendly, well-spoken, and fast-learning receptionist to join our team.

Dental experience will be advantageous.

You will be the first point of contact for our patients and play a vital role in creating a welcoming, professional environment.

Duties include:

Greeting and checking in patients
Managing the appointment diary
Handling phone calls and patient inquiries
Basic admin and filing
Assisting with billing and medical aid claims
Keeping the reception area tidy and organized

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

(No shifts, no Sundays)

Ideal Candidate:

Excellent verbal and written communication
Friendly, calm, and professional under pressure
Good with time management and multitasking
Computer literate (basic MS Office)
Matric essential; admin or reception experience preferred

Candidate Requirements

Education: Matric certificate (minimum); further studies in admin, health, or reception is a plus
Language: Fluent in English; Afrikaans or Xhosa a bonus
Computer Literacy: Comfortable with Google Workspace, email, WhatsApp, and practice management software (training will be given)
Professional Appearance & Demeanor
Reliable Transport to Kensington area or wherever your practice is based

Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Attention to detail (data capturing, appointment setting, billing)
Multi-tasking in a busy environment
Calm and professional under pressure
Good phone etiquette
Customer service and problem-solving mindset
Ability to work independently and in a team

Experience

Preferred: 1+ year in a customer-facing or admin role (retail, front desk, hospitality, or another medical office)
Advantageous but not essential: Experience with dental software like Exact, GoodX, or Med-e-Mass
