The Structural Engineering Lead is responsible for providing technical project planning, management and oversight for key initiatives and implementation of projects, ensuring that these projects are completed on time, within scope and budget while applying all aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS) that enables the business to retain its ISO 9001 accreditation.
The Team Lead manages all phases of service delivery in the structural engineering team from stage 1 to 6 and will be responsible for, but not limited to, all aspects of project management including all project resources (including partners / subcontractors / specialist services), project planning, scheduling, risk management, scope management, internal and external communication, and status reporting.
This position reports to the Regional Director: Western Cape until such time that a revised team structure is approved by the business.
The incumbent will be based in the Cape Town office.
Qualifications and Experience
- BSc / B.Eng / B-Tech Degree
- 10-15 years’ post first qualification experience in the built environment and least 5 of these years in a client facing Project Management or Technical Lead role
- Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer/ Technologist
- Registration with SACPCMP as Pr CPM will be an advantage
- Proven track record as Project/Technical Lead on multi-disciplinary building & Infrastructure projects
- Project Management experience to lead and manage teams to deliver medium to high rise office buildings, residential, educational, healthcare, commercial and industrial buildings, and water retaining structures
- Experience in contract administration & management of multi-disciplinary building & Infrastructure projects
- A good understanding of the Consulting and Construction Contracts used in the built environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage teams to deliver buildings and other structural engineering projects
- Responsible for a project in all respects, budgeting, resource allocation, procedures, profitability, quality, and standards
- Develop and communicate project goals and deliverables; assess and evaluate project team work to ensure successful completion of projects
- Undertake Client liaison and communication with all stakeholders of the individual projects
- Preparation of project plans, conducting project health checks and overseeing the implementation of recovery plans where necessary
- Technical coordination within the business and with external team members and / or stakeholders
- Assisting the Business Development team and the relevant Executive in identifying opportunities for tendering, preparation of requests for proposals and full tender proposals
- Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget
Pay: R537 665,11 - R1 401 671,85 per year
