BIL seeks to employ a warehouse Supervisor who will be reporting to the Facility Manager, the successful candidate will have full knowledge of warehouse operations and problem solving abilities. The candidate must be proactive, self-starting, seizes opportunities and takes responsibility for actions.
Qualifications
Grade 12
Supervisory Training certificate or equivalent training qualificationDiploma/Degree in a logistics related field (added advantage)
Experience
A minimum of 2 - 3 years’ recent, relevant supervisory experience gained within a manufacturing / warehousing environment
Experience in managing teams
Experience in Quality Systems
Experience in training/developing staff
Experience in employee relations
Experience in performance management systems
PLANNING AND ORGANIZING
Ensures that all operations/movement reports are communicated to the Operations Superintendent daily.
Ensures that all damages are notified to clients and the necessary follow ups are made to have damaged products removed from the site.
Ensures that customer SLA's are being managed and non compliances communicated to relevant parties.
Deals with unexpected/unplanned occurrences with minimum cost or loss of profit.
Ensures that all IT equipment is in good optimal working condition.
Ensures that correct information is supplied to the operations.
Participate in all stock takes.
Ensure that adequate communication is in place in the event of overtime.
Prepare weekly activity reports.
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
Reviews performance of individuals against set requirements on a quaterly bases
Be prepared to counsel/discipline employees as and when the need arises.
Identifies training needs and employees with potential for advancement on the basis of work performance.
Manage absenteeism in accordance with company procedures.
Compile training needs analysis and encourage staff development.
INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS
Initiates inquiries (ensuring substantive and procedural fairness)
Chair disciplinary enquiries as and when required.
Addressing of staff problems, queries and grievances timeously according to applicable procedure, anticipate possible conflict and takes preventative actions.
Ensure that the company's policies are articulated (summarized) for employees to understand.
BUILDS TEAMWORK
Sets clear objectives, targets and standards and gives performance feedback with necessary
Corrective measures were required.
Conduct regular meetings with employees to brief on workload and current issues.
Action suggestions and complaints of staff.
UTILIZATION OF EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS
Monitors and action employee's performance according to guidelines.
This includes: Ensure optimal utilization of time and resources
Ensures that maintenance and running costs do not exceed budget.
ADMINISTRATION AND DOCUMENTATION
Ensures that theoretical and physical stocks balance and conducts perpetual stock counts.
Investigate and resolve stock count discrepancies.
Manage the schedule of all leave for all staff.
Electronic capturing of leave and shift allowance
Attending promptly to customer queries.
Manage supplier and customer SLA's, compile monthly or quarterly SLA compliance reports.
HOUSEKEEPING, SAFETY, SECURITY, QUALITY ASSURANCE
Communicates standards of housekeeping to staff and takes appropriate action when standards are not adhered to
Ensure all SOP's/Procedures are being followed religiously
Ensures adherence to guidelines stipulated in OHSA, and BIL SHERQ Department as well as ISO 9001 Quality Standards.
Deals proactively with potentially hazardous situations and ensures that all staff is waering/using protective clothing and equipment
Ensure all bins are Blind Cycle counted monthly to ensure stock Accuracy
Investigate incidents, Action Requests and NCR's, take necessary corrective and preventative
Implementation and mantainance of the 5s methedology at the area of responsibility
Checks on a daily basis physical security including doors, windows, locks etc.
Ensures confidentiality of the job requirement is maintained at all time.
Ensures that Quality Assurance procedures are strictly adhered to.
Review procedures at planned intervals escalate the necessary changes, and ensure changes in operations manuals
Create billing schedules and conduct facility monthly checks using monthly checklists
Ensure all checklists for MHE are completed prior to utilising them
Ensure all stock queries are investigated and closed out as soon as possible
Report any abnormalities /defects in the warehouse
Stock loss reports updated monthly with accurate count figures
Conduct Daily Blue area talks
Conduct Job observations Weekly
Ensure Monthly SHEQ requirements are provided to the SHEQ co-ordinator timeously
Ensure all staff use their proper PPE supplied by BIL.
